Abstract The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has updated its 2012 guidance on selected default values (DVs) to be used by the EFSA Scientific Committee (SC), Scientific Panels and Units in the absence of actual measured data. DVs are meant to be typical values, being not necessarily conservative, while uncertainty factors (UFs) tend to be ...

Occurrence Pattern of Fusarium Head Blight Toxins in Barley and Wheat in Korea [PDF]
The occurrence of Fusarium head blight mycotoxins was analyzed in barley and wheat collected from 2020 to 2024 in the main production areas in Korea. In all years, the mean level and incidence of nivalenol (NIV) was higher than deoxynivalenol (DON).

Cytotoxic effects of nivalenol on HL60 cells
To elucidate the underlying mechanism of nivalenol toxicity, we treated human promyelocytic leukemia HL60 cells with nivalenol for 24 h and investigated the toxin's effects on cell viability and interleukin (IL)-8 secretion. Whereas exposure to 1 μg/ml nivalenol led to slight morphologic damage, that after treatment with 3 or 10 μg/ml nivalenol was ...

ABSTRACT Fusarium species cause yield losses in wheat production through fusarium head blight (FHB) and the associated contamination of regulated mycotoxins, such as trichothecenes and zearalenone. Despite the widespread use of PCR‐based molecular approaches for Fusarium detection, quantification, and chemotyping, most primers were developed prior to ...

Fusarium Mycotoxins in Maize Field Soils: Method Validation and Implications for Sampling Strategy
While mycotoxins are generally regarded as food contamination issues, there is growing interest in mycotoxins as environmental pollutants. The main sources of trichothecene and zearalenone mycotoxins in the environment are mainly attributed to Fusarium ...

Aflatoxin B1 and total aflatoxins were assessed in 40 commercial maize flour samples collected from Jiroft City, Iran. AFB1 and total aflatoxins were detected in 67.5% and 70% of samples, respectively. A total of 35% of samples exceeded the EU limit for AFB1, while 20% exceeded the EU limit for total aflatoxins.

Larval development time, ADG, survival rate and substrate consumption were not negatively affected by the levels of mycotoxins contamination Larvae excreted most of the ingested DON and its derivatives through exuviae and frass The mycotoxin accumulation rates observed in larvae were always below the current legal limits for livestock feed Abstract ...
