P2X4 promotes interleukin-1β production in osteoarthritis via NLRP1

open access: yesMolecular Medicine Reports, 2013
Interleukin‑1β (IL‑1β) has a significant role in osteoarthritis (OA). The purinergic receptor, P2X4, has previously been implicated in IL‑1β secretion. The NLRP1 inflammasome mediates the production of IL‑1β in inflammatory disorders. However, it is unknown whether P2X4 modulates NLRP1‑mediated IL‑1β release.

The structure of the caspase recruitment domain of BinCARD reveals that all three cysteines can be oxidized [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The caspase recruitment domain (CARD) is present in death-domain superfamily proteins involved in inflammation and apoptosis. BinCARD is named for its ability to interact with Bcl10 and inhibit downstream signalling.

Study on the Modulation of NLRP1 by Natural Products in Neurodegenerative Diseases

open access: yesNatural Product Communications
Neuronal pyroptosis is one of the crucial pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, and the signaling pathway mediated by inflammasome is the main pathway of pyroptosis.

Transcription Factor ATF4 Induces NLRP1 Inflammasome Expression during Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Perturbation of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis triggers the ER stress response (also known as Unfolded Protein Response), a hallmark of many pathological disorders.

NLRP1 inflammasome activation in schizophrenia

open access: yesFENS Forum 2024
Abstract body: Aims: In the context of the maternal immune activation and neuroinflammation hypotheses of schizophrenia (SZ), we studied NLRP1 mRNA and protein expression in the postmortem brain tissue from a total of 10 SZ and 10 controls. Methods: RNA underwent reverse transcription and was hybridized onto the Affymetrix HG-U133 Plus 2.0 array, using

Comparison of Different Keratinocyte Cell Line Models for Analysis of NLRP1 Inflammasome Activation

open access: yesBiomolecules
The NLRP1 (nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich-containing family, pyrin domain-containing-1) inflammasome is the most important inflammasome in human keratinocytes. It plays a crucial role in regulating innate immunity in the skin.

Schizophrenia is a TH2 dominant autoimmune disease possibly against acetylcholine receptors of CNS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Schizophrenia is a very common psychiatric disorder. However, its etiology and pathogenesis is still unknown. Current theory saying that neurotransmitter imbalance such as serotonin or dopamine only provides limited effectiveness in schizophrenia ...
