NPC1L1 Plays a Novel Role in Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) is a key protein in the transport of cholesterol, which exists in the brush marginal membrane of the intestinal epithelial cells and the timid duct membrane of the liver. It affects cholesterol absorption and plasma low-density lipoprotein levels.

Fatty acid metabolism—an emerging regulatory node in T‐cell immunometabolism
Abstract While the roles of glucose metabolism and tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle intermediates in immune regulation are well established, the contribution of fatty acid metabolism remains less well defined. In this review, we examine current knowledge on the immunomodulatory functions of fatty acid metabolism, with a particular focus on T‐cell biology.

IntroductionCardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide and is substantially caused by high cholesterol levels. High levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) lead to atherosclerosis, which greatly raises the risk of ...

NPC1L1-dependent intestinal cholesterol absorption requires ganglioside GM3 in membrane microdomains
Intestinal cholesterol absorption is a key regulator of systemic cholesterol homeostasis. Excessive dietary cholesterol and its intestinal uptake lead to hypercholesterolemia, a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

Hypolipidemic potential of squid homogenate irrespective of a relatively high content of cholesterol [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Our previous study has shown that regardless of a relatively high amount of cholesterol, squid homogenate lowers serum and hepatic cholesterol in animals.

High serum cholesterol is linked to colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRCLM) subtypes with poor survival (replacement pattern). Levels of cholesterol under 4 mmol·L−1 correlated with better survival and a desmoplastic pattern subtype. Furthermore, in vivo PCSK9 inhibitor evolocumab, which lowers cholesterol, reduced liver metastases.

BACKGROUND: Signaling pathways contributing to cholesterol efflux and inhibitory inflammation in atherosclerosis that has not been explored is the liver X receptor (LXR). Catechin as LXR agonist influences the expression of Niemann-pick C1 like 1 (NPC1L1)

ABSTRACT Immune homeostasis is indispensable for preserving organismal integrity, orchestrated through complex molecular networks encompassing immune cell dynamics, microbial cues, and epigenetic regulation. Among these, the gut microbiota‐non‐coding RNA (ncRNA) axis has recently garnered substantial attention as a multifaceted modulator of host ...
