Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

OPA1-related disorders: Diversity of clinical expression, modes of inheritance and pathophysiology
Mutations in the Optic Atrophy 1 gene (OPA1) were first identified in 2000 as the main cause of Dominant Optic Atrophy, a disease specifically affecting the retinal ganglion cells and the optic nerve.

Isolation and identification of lactic acid bacteria from abalone (Haliotis asinina) as a potential candidate of probiotic [PDF]
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengisolasi, menyeleksi dan mengkarakterisasi Bakteri Asam Laktat (BAL) dari induk abalon yang berpotensi sebagai kandidat probiotik pada sistem budidaya abalon. Isolasi selektif BAL dilakukan menggunakan media de Man

Mitochondrial oxidative stress, calcium and dynamics in cardiac ischaemia‐reperfusion injury
Abstract figure legend Heart attack causes ischaemia–reperfusion injury in cardiomyocytes. Mitochondria generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to oxidative stress. High levels of mitochondrial calcium (Ca2+) activate the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP), and excess ROS levels can lower the Ca2+ required to activate the mPTP ...

Abstract figure legend Placental mitochondrial adaptation to gestational hypoxia. Hypoxic pregnancy in sheep increases placental insulin like growth factor 2 (IGF2) signalling (1), which is associated with a shift in capacity away from β‐oxidation (2) and complex I‐mediated respiration (3), while maintaining total oxidative phosphorylation capacity (4).

Abstract figure legend To investigate the role of glucose availability in fetal left ventricle (LV) development, this study assessed whether maternal late gestation undernutrition (LGUN; 50% of Control diet) induced alterations in the contractility, metabolic, and hormonal profile can be ameliorated in LGUN fetuses receiving glucose infusion (LGUN+G ...

Neutrophil extracellular trap formation requires OPA1-dependent glycolytic ATP production
Optic atrophy 1 (OPA1) is known to be important for mitochondrial fusion and structural integrity. Here, using OPA1 knockout mice, the authors show a detrimental effect on host defense capabilities against pathogen infections.

Dopaminergic Innervation of the Nidopallium Caudolaterale in the Japanese Quail
The nidopallium caudolaterale (NCL) of the Japanese quail was delineated based on quantitative TH+ fiber density, identifying it as the primary dopaminergic target within the pallium. TH+ basket‐like structures predominantly surrounded CaMKIIa+ excitatory neurons, with sparse contacts onto GABAergic interneurons.
