AdpA, key regulator for morphological differentiation regulates bacterial chromosome replication [PDF]
AdpA, one of the most pleiotropic transcription regulators in bacteria, controls expression of several dozen genes during Streptomyces differentiation.

Evolutionary Changes in DnaA-Dependent Chromosomal Replication in Cyanobacteria
Replication of the circular bacterial chromosome is initiated at a unique origin (oriC) in a DnaA-dependent manner in which replication proceeds bidirectionally from oriC to ter. The nucleotide compositions of most bacteria differ between the leading and

Genome duplication is a critical event in the reproduction cycle of every cell. Because all daughter cells must inherit a complete genome, chromosome replication is tightly regulated, with multiple mechanisms focused on controlling when chromosome ...

Studies of ion currents in filamentous fungi are a prerequisite for forming a complete understanding of their physiology. Cytoplasmic droplets (CDs), obtained from sporangiophores of Phycomyces blakesleeanus, are a model system that enables the ...

Regional Control of Chromosome Segregation in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. [PDF]
Chromosome segregation in bacteria occurs concomitantly with DNA replication, and the duplicated regions containing the replication origin oriC are generally the first to separate and migrate to their final specific location inside the cell.

Dynamic distribution of SeqA protein across the chromosome of Escherichia coli K-12 [PDF]
The bacterial SeqA protein binds to hemi-methylated GATC sequences that arise in newly synthesized DNA upon passage of the replication machinery. In Escherichia coli K-12, the single replication origin oriC is a well-characterized target for SeqA, which ...

A Novel Cytoplasmic Hemimethylated oriC Binding Activity [PDF]
Using hemimethylated, fully methylated, and unmethylated oligonucleotide probes corresponding to part of the origin of Escherichia coli DNA replication, oriC (+81-136), we have characterized a novel hemimethylated DNA-specific protein binding activity. This activity appears to be located in the cytoplasm rather than in membrane fractions.

DnaB proteolysis in vivo regulates oligomerization and its localization at oriC in Bacillus subtilis [PDF]
Initiation of bacterial DNA replication at oriC is mediated by primosomal proteins that act cooperatively to melt an AT-rich region where the replicative helicase is loaded prior to the assembly of the replication fork.
