l-Ornithine-induced inactivation of mammalian ornithine decarboxylase in vitro [PDF]
Partially purified ornithine decarboxylase, isolated from the liver of thioacetamide-treated rats, is stable in the absence of added low-molecular-mass thiols or other reducing agents. However, under these conditions, the enzyme is rapidly inactivated upon incubation with L-ornithine or L-2-methylornithine.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Synthesis of 2-(nitromethyl)ornithine from ornithine mediated by cobalt(III).
Rac.-p-(tris(2-aminoethyl)amine-2-(nitromethyl)ornithine)cobalt(III) trichloride (2d) was obtained by a simple three-step procedure from ornithine using cobalt template chemistry.

Mechanoluminescent HOF Nanotransducers Enabled Sono‐Optogenetics in Parkinsonian Rats
We present a mechanoluminescent system utilizing porous hydrogen‐bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) as a toolkit for focused ultrasound‐triggered, non‐invasive light delivery to the deep brain in rats. This approach enables the specific activation of PV‐GPe neurons in dopamine‐depleted Parkinson's disease rat models, resulting in a comparable alleviation

Some Important Metabolites Produced by Lactic Acid Bacteria Originated from Kimchi
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have been used for various food fermentations for thousands of years. Recently, LAB are receiving increased attention due to their great potential as probiotics for man and animals, and also as cell factories for producing ...

Channeling of extramitochondrial ornithine to matrix ornithine transcarbamylase.
In the presence of citrulline synthesis, we made the following observations. External ornithine is channeled between its transporter and ornithine transcarbamylase; mitochondria preloaded with cold ornithine, then incubated with [3H]ornithine, produced citrulline of the same specific radioactivity as that of external ornithine, while matrix ornithine ...

Production of ornithine by intact human erythrocytes
Although the conversion of arginine to ornithine in humans is largely an hepatic process, erythrocytes also have this enzymatic capacity. We have shown that intact human erythrocytes readily produce ornithine from arginine and release product ornithine ...
