Behind anticancer molecules: lactoferricin dimeric peptides with fast, selective, persistent and broad-spectrum cytotoxic effect [PDF]
Aim: To identify peptides derived from bovine lactoferricin (LfcinB) as potential therapeutics for colon cancer treatment. We systematically modified dimeric peptides to enhance their selectivity against colon cancer cells and reduce toxicity.

Oxygen‐releasing hydrogels are widely used to support cell survival in 3D cultures and to promote wound healing. However, incorporating catalase to convert H2O2 into O2 often generates additional oxygen bubbles, leading to material instability which rarely addressed.

Channeling of extramitochondrial ornithine to matrix ornithine transcarbamylase.
In the presence of citrulline synthesis, we made the following observations. External ornithine is channeled between its transporter and ornithine transcarbamylase; mitochondria preloaded with cold ornithine, then incubated with [3H]ornithine, produced citrulline of the same specific radioactivity as that of external ornithine, while matrix ornithine ...

Here we developed Am@SExo, a dual‐functional engineered exosome that coordinates CD47–SIRPα checkpoint blockade with Arg1 mRNA–mediated metabolic reprogramming. Surface SIRPα promotes recognition of apoptotic cells and plaque targeting, while Arg1 expression enhances arginine–ornithine metabolism, Rac1 activation, and actin remodeling in macrophages ...

Dysregulation of the urea cycle – potential targets for treatment and diagnosis in prostate cancer
Background Prostate cancer (PCa) exhibits profound metabolic reprogramming, including dysregulation of the urea cycle (UC), an emerging driver of tumour growth, therapy resistance, and immune modulation.

Some Important Metabolites Produced by Lactic Acid Bacteria Originated from Kimchi
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have been used for various food fermentations for thousands of years. Recently, LAB are receiving increased attention due to their great potential as probiotics for man and animals, and also as cell factories for producing ...

Structure and Function of Ornithine Carbamoyltransferases [PDF]
The reaction catalyzed by ornithine carbamoyltransferase can participate in either the anabolism or the catabolism of arginine. The carbamoylation of ornithine, yielding citrulline, is involved in the biosynthetic sequences; the reverse reaction, the phosphorolysis of citrulline, is the second step of the arginine deiminase pathway. The ornithine ...
