Bone Morphogenetic Protein/SMAD Signaling Orients Cell Fate Decision by Impairing KSRP-Dependent MicroRNA Maturation

open access: yesCell Reports, 2012
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are essential regulators of development, physiology, and evolution, and their biogenesis is strictly controlled at multiple levels.

Directing mesenchymal stem cells to bone to augment bone formation and increase bone mass. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Aging reduces the number of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that can differentiate into osteoblasts in the bone marrow, which leads to impairment of osteogenesis.

EBF2 Regulates Osteoblast-Dependent Differentiation of Osteoclasts [PDF]

open access: yesDevelopmental Cell, 2005
Communication between bone-depositing osteoblasts and bone-resorbing osteoclasts is required for bone development and homeostasis. Here, we identify EBF2, a member of the early B cell factor (EBF) family of transcription factors that is expressed in osteoblast progenitors, as a regulator of osteoclast differentiation. We find that mice homozygous for a

Engineering Osteoimmune Responses with Functionalized Orthopedic Implants for Post‐Operative Osteosarcoma Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with limited treatment options and a terrible prognosis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent development of osteoimmunomodulatory implants for post‐operative osteosarcoma treatment, of which the potential utility in evoking durable anti‐osteosarcoma immunity and accelerating bone

Current Topics in Pharmacological Research on Bone Metabolism: Promyelotic Leukemia Zinc Finger (PLZF) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-α-Stimulated Gene 6 (TSG-6) Identified by Gene Expression Analysis Play Roles in the Pathogenesis of Ossification of the Posterior Longitudinal Ligament

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2006
.: To understand the molecular pathogenesis of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of the spine (OPLL), an ectopic bone formation disease, we performed cDNA microarray analysis on cultured ligament cells from OPLL patients to understand ...

Role of transforming growth factor-β and extracellular regulated protein kinases in lipopolysaccharide-induced osteoblastic differentiation of porcine aortic valve interstitial cells

open access: yesDi-san junyi daxue xuebao, 2020
Objective To investigate the role of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β1) and extracellular regulated protein kinases (ERK) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced osteoblastic differentiation of porcine aortic valve interstitial cells (PVICs).

Activating the Osteoblastic USP26 Pathway Alleviates Multi‐Organ Fibrosis by Decreasing Insulin Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The loss of Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 26 (USP26) in osteoblasts results in decreased bone formation, as well as multi‐organ fibrosis associated with insulin resistance (IR). Mechanistically, the absence of USP26 reduces glycolysis and lactate accumulation, leading to decreased histone H3 lysine 18 lactylation (H3K18LA) in the promoter region of KH ...

Immunomodulatory Hydrogel Coating with SeNPs and Lithium Silicate Synergistically Promotes Osseointegration and Prevents Infection on Titanium Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a multifunctional hydrogel coating (Lap‐CMCSMA/GelMA@SeNPs) that scavenges ROS, modulates immune responses, and shows strong antibacterial activity. It effectively restores the peri‐implant microenvironment. The coating exhibits excellent biocompatibility and promotes osteogenic differentiation.
