Dihydromyricetin Alleviates Diabetic Neuropathic Pain and Depression Comorbidity Symptoms by Inhibiting P2X7 Receptor

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2019
Diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) and major depressive disorder (MDD) are common complications of diabetes mellitus and mutually affect each other. As a member of the ATP-gated ion channel family, P2X7 receptor is associated with the transduction of pain ...

miR-150 promotes human breast cancer growth and malignant behavior by targeting the pro-apoptotic purinergic P2X7 receptor.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The P2X7 receptor regulates cell growth through mediation of apoptosis. Low level expression of P2X7 has been linked to cancer development because tumor cells harboring a defective P2X7 mechanism can escape P2X7 pro-apoptotic control.

P2X7 receptor antagonism in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2017
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rapidly progressive disorder characterized by the degeneration and subsequent loss of upper and lower motor neurons, resulting in reduced muscle function and paralysis (Mathis et al., 2017). Current therapies are limited to the oral administration of riluzole, which improves survival by only 3 months (Mathis et ...

P2X7 receptor knockout does not alter renal function or prevent angiotensin II-induced kidney injury in F344 rats

open access: yesScientific Reports
P2X7 receptors mediate immune and endothelial cell responses to extracellular ATP. Acute pharmacological blockade increases renal blood flow and filtration rate, suggesting that receptor activation promotes tonic vasoconstriction.
