WP(Pip) is a mixture of whey protein and piperine‐loaded nanoemulsion stabilized by WP through microfluidic homogenization. Acting as a “smart key,” piperine opens epithelial tight junctions to enhance absorption of whey protein and, thereby increasing circulating amino acid availability, synergistically up‐regulates the mTOR signaling pathway in ...

Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.

This research innovatively illustrates baicalin’s multifaceted mechanisms in enhancing piglets’ intestinal health: modulating bile acid metabolism via probiotics, reinforcing tight junction proteins (ZO‐1/claudin), suppressing TLR4/NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation, whereas promoting growth and reducing diarrhea.

Tight-junctions (TJs) are multi-protein complexes between adjacent endothelial or epithelial cells. In the blood-brain-barrier (BBB), they seal the paracellular space and the Claudin-5 (Cldn5) protein forms their backbone. Despite the fundamental role in

Mechanism of Fluid Reabsorption in Kidney Proximal Tubule: Interplay Between Lateral Na+/K+-ATPase and AQP1 and SGLT1 Mediated Water Fluxes. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Aims The mechanism of isosmotic water reabsorption in the kidney proximal tubule, with a focus on the interaction between the lateral Na+/K+‐ATPase, apical water pathways mediated by AQP1 and SGLT1, and paracellular water flow through Claudin‐2. Methods A mathematical model of proximal tubular transport was used to compute coupled ion, solute,
