Ubiquitin, proteasome and parkin
The ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) is important for intracellular proteolysis, and is responsible for a diverse array of biologically important cellular processes, such as cell-cycle progression, signaling cascades and developmental programs. This system is also involved in the protein quality control, which maintains the health of the cell.

Humanin Mitigates Aβ-Induced Retinal Pigment Epithelium Injury via AMPK-Beclin1-Dependent Mitophagy. [PDF]
Humanin (HN) enhanced the clearance of Aβ‐accumulated mitochondria in the RPE while preserving retinal function and RPE barrier integrity. HN activated AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK), leading to phosphorylation of ULK1 and Beclin1, which promoted the interaction between Beclin1 and Parkin and their translocation to mitochondria.

Abstract Valuing parental engagement, as part of home–school collaboration, can benefit children's learning. This article focuses on parents and school‐based staff's (N = 120) experiences of children's learning occurring at home during the COVID‐19 lockdowns (2020–2021), both school‐mandated and other learning activities.

The costs of extra‐pair behaviours in birds
ABSTRACT Extra‐pair behaviours – reproductive behaviours, including those related to copulation and paternity of offspring, amongst animals outside of a social pair bond – have long intrigued behavioural ecologists, particularly from the female animal's perspective.
