Functional Inactivation of the Transcription Factor Pax8 through Oligomerization Chain Reaction [PDF]
Among the approaches used to provide a functional inactivation of a target protein, we have chosen the recently described oligomerization chain reaction (OCR) strategy to functionally inactivate the transcription factor Pax8, a member of the Pax gene family expressed in thyroid cells.

PAX8 and MECOM are interaction partners driving ovarian cancer
Lineage-restricted transcription factor PAX8 is oncogenic in ovarian cancer cells. Here the authors show that PAX8 interacts and recruits a splice variant of the MECOM locus PRDM3 to control the gene expression module involved in adhesion and ...

HBx regulates transcription factor PAX8 stabilization to promote the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma [PDF]
Transcription factor PAX8 expression is upregulated in several types of cancers. However, little is known about the function of PAX8 in the progression of hepatoma and its regulatory mechanisms. Here, we show that PAX8 silencing inhibits the proliferation and clonogenicity of hepatoma cells and its growth in vivo.

Summary: PBRM1, a subunit of the PBAF coactivator complex that transcription factors use to activate target genes, is genetically inactivated in almost all clear cell renal cell cancers (RCCs).

Thyroid transcription factor 1 and Pax8 synergistically activate the promoter of the human thyroglobulin gene [PDF]
Thyroglobulin (Tg) is an essential thyroid-specific protein, which serves as the matrix for thyroid hormone biosynthesis. To obtain new insights in the regulation of Tg gene expression, we investigated the interaction of the human Tg promoter with the thyroid-specific transcription factors TTF-1 and Pax8.

Th1 immune maturation effects of
Nocardia rubra cell-wall skeleton (Nr-CWS) is reported as an external immunotherapeutic enhancer with the advantage of antitumor effect on human cancers. However, the immune regulatory role of Nr-CWS is not fully illustrated.

Background Loss of the transcription factor GLI-Similar 3 (GLIS3) function causes congenital hypothyroidism (CH) in both humans and mice due to decreased expression of several thyroid hormone (TH) biosynthetic genes in thyroid follicular cells.

The Expression of Transcription Factors in Fetal Lamb Kidney
(1) Background: Renal development involves frequent expression and loss of transcription factors, resulting in the activation of genes. Wilms’ tumor 1 (WT1), hepatocyte nuclear factor-1-beta (HNF1β), and paired box genes 2 and 8 (Pax2 and Pax8) play an ...

Diagnostic utility of thyroid transcription factors Pax8 and TTF-2 (FoxE1) in thyroid epithelial neoplasms [PDF]
Thyroid-specific transcription factors, Pax8, TTF-1, and TTF-2, are crucial for thyroid organogenesis and differentiation. Compared with TTF-1, the other two markers have scarcely been investigated in surgical pathology. The goal of this study is to evaluate the expressions of these markers in thyroid tumors of the full spectrum of differentiation ...
