Atypical signaling and functional desensitization response of MAS receptor to peptide ligands. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
MAS is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) implicated in multiple physiological processes. Several physiological peptide ligands such as angiotensin-(1-7), angiotensin fragments and neuropeptide FF (NPFF) are reported to act on MAS.

Collisional energy dependence of peptide ion fragmentation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, 2009
The energy dependence of fragmentation in a collision cell was measured for 2400 protonated peptide ions derived from the digestion of 24 proteins. The collision voltage at which the sum of the fragment ion abundances was equal to the remaining parent ion (V(1/2)) was the principal measure of fragmentation effectiveness.

Identifying proteins from two-dimensional gels by molecular mass searching of peptide fragments in protein sequence databases.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1993
A rapid method for the identification of known proteins separated by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis is described in which molecular masses of peptide fragments are used to search a protein sequence database.

Reactivity of anti-thyroid antibodies to thyroglobulin tryptic fragments: comparison of autoimmune and non-autoimmune thyroid diseases

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1999
Studies concerning the antigenicity of thyroglobulin fragments allow the characterization of the epitopes but do not consider the role of heavier antigenic fragments that could result in vivo from the action of endoproteases.

A novel framework to quantify uncertainty in peptide-tandem mass spectrum matches with application to nanobody peptide identification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Nanobodies are small antibody fragments derived from camelids that selectively bind to antigens. These proteins have marked physicochemical properties that support advanced therapeutics, including treatments for SARS-CoV-2. To realize their potential, bottom-up proteomics via liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) has been proposed ...

Improved Detection and Fragmentation of Disulphide-Linked Peptides [PDF]

open access: yesMethods and Protocols, 2018
Characterisation of peptides containing intact disulphide bonds (DSBs) via mass spectrometry is challenging. Our study demonstrates that the addition of aniline to alpha-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid improves detection and fragmentation of complex DSB peptides by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization, tandem time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-

Solution Structures, Dynamics, and Ice Growth Inhibitory Activity of Peptide Fragments Derived from an Antarctic Yeast Protein

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Exotic functions of antifreeze proteins (AFP) and antifreeze glycopeptides (AFGP) have recently been attracted with much interest to develop them as commercial products.

Association of β-amyloid peptide fragments with neuronal nitric oxide synthase: Implications in the etiology of Alzheimers disease

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2012
Neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) was purified on DEAE-Sepharose anion-exchange in a 38% yield, with 3-fold recovery and specific activity of 5 µmol.min−1.mg−1.

Study on the reduction of Tartary buckwheat allergenicity during Pediococcus pentosaceus fermentation by HPLC-MS/MS analysis

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X, 2023
Tartary buckwheat contains more valuable nutrients than common buckwheat, but it also contains allergenic proteins that induce allergic reactions through an IgE-mediated response.

Chronological Profiling of Plasma Native Peptides after Hepatectomy in Pigs: Toward the Discovery of Human Biomarkers for Liver Regeneration. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy (PHx) is a time-dependent process, which is tightly regulated by multiple signaling cascades. Failure of this complex process leads to posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF), which is associated with a high rate
