Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Statistical assessment of multiaxial HCF criteria at the grain scale [PDF]
Multiaxial high cycle fatigue modeling of materials is an issue that concerns many industrial domains (automotive, aerospace, nuclear, etc.) and in which many progress still remains to be achieved.

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Design of novel non-periodic biomimetic bone scaffolds using the Moving Morphable Components method
Bone scaffolds are widely used in orthopedics for tissue repair and regeneration, yet achieving optimal bone growth through porous scaffolds remains a significant challenge.

STRESS INTENSITY FACTORS FOR CIRCUMFERENTIAL PERIODIC CRACKED PIPES UNDER BENDING
Stress intensity factor is an important parameter that characterizes the stress field near the tip in fracture analysis. The simple and effective methods to estimate intensity factor become significant.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Swarms are microearthquake clusters governed by aseismic deformation, fluid migration, and stress changes, but the underlying mechanisms for their recurrence remain elusive. In 2008, abundant swarms were observed on the westernmost Gofar transform fault.
