Ascorbic Acid Oxidation and Lipid Peroxidation in Milk
Journal of Food Science, 1962SUMMARY Ascorbic acid oxidation was studied in relation to the natural copper level and to lipid peroxidation in milks produced by cows receiving alfalfa bay or pasture. Correlations were highly significant (r = 0.79**) between ascorbic acid oxidation rate and natural copper for both alfalfa and pasture milks.

Periodontitis changes renal structures by oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation
Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 2017AbstractObjectiveThe aim of this study was to investigate whether experimental periodontitis cause changes to the renal tissues and imbalance in oxidative stress in kidneys.MethodsTwenty‐two female Wistar rats were separated into two groups: control and periodontitis.

Trehalose protects Saccharomyces cerevisiae from lipid peroxidation during oxidative stress
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 2006Aiming to focus the protective role of the sugar trehalose under oxidative conditions, two sets of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains, having different profiles of trehalose synthesis, were used. Cells were treated either with a 10% trehalose solution or with a heat treatment (which leads to trehalose accumulation) and then exposed either to menadione (a

Exposure to Oxidized Nitrogen: Lipid Peroxidation and Neonatal Health Risk
Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1998Pregnant women exposed to extensive environmental contamination by oxidized nitrogen compounds were studied at parturition, their neonatal health status was assessed and the involvement of oxidative stress in pathology was evaluated. Methemoglobin in maternal and cord blood was measured as a biomarker of individual exposure.

Oxidative Stress and Lipid Peroxidation in Prolonged Users of Methamphetamine
Drug Metabolism Letters, 2014Methamphetamine abuse results in numerous adverse health effects. Formation of free radicals may be a contributing factor. Methamphetamine has produced free radicals in animal studies. Present study was conducted to evaluate status of oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation among chronic methamphetamine users.Ninety six individuals were selected ...

Protein thiol oxidation and lipid peroxidation in patients with uraemia
Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2004Patients with uraemia are exposed to increased oxidative stress. In this study, a series of oxidative stress markers were measured in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) and patients with CRF on haemodialysis (HD) compared to normal controls to establish whether there is enhanced oxidative stress on HD therapy in uraemic subjects.Protein thiol ...

Effect of Inhibition of Lipid Peroxidation on Myocardial Oxidant Damage
Journal of Surgical Research, 1994Oxygen-derived free radical-mediated injury occurs frequently following prolonged ischemia and reperfusion. Recently, the nonglucocorticoid steroid U74006F has been shown to exert therapeutic effects presumably secondary to its peroxide inhibitory effect.

ETHANOL-INDUCED LIPID PEROXIDATION AND OXIDATIVE STRESS IN EXTRAHEPATIC TISSUES
Alcohol and Alcoholism, 1990An ethanol-induced oxidative stress is not restricted to the liver, where ethanol is actively oxidized, but can affect various extrahepatic tissues as shown by experimental data obtained in the rat during acute or chronic ethanol intoxication. Most of these data concern the central nervous system, the heart and the testes.

[Indices of oxidative stress. 2. Lipid peroxides].
Ukrains'kyi biokhimichnyi zhurnal (1999 ), 2007Two methods of the determination of lipid peroxidation products have been compared which are based on Fe(II) oxidation by them at acid pH values in the presence of xylenol orange which binds Fe(III) have been compared. The first method uses cumene hydropeoxide as an internal standard.

Iodothyronines: Oxidative deiodination by hemoglobin and inhibition of lipid peroxidation
Lipids, 1984AbstractPurified rat hemoglobin catalyzes the oxidative degradation of iodothyronines to form iodide and an iodine‐containing intermediate that reacts with protein. Hemoglobin also catalyzes peroxidation of linoleic acid. These observations are consistent with the reported intrinsic peroxidase activity of hemoglobin and other heme‐proteins.
