Forecasting Count Data With Varying Dispersion: A Latent‐Variable Approach

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Count data, such as product sales and disease case counts, are common in business forecasting and many areas of science. Although the Poisson distribution is the best known model for such data, its use is severely limited by its assumption that the dispersion is a fixed function of the mean, which rarely holds in real‐world scenarios.

Balloon catheter plus concurrent vaginal misoprostol versus vaginal misoprostol alone for cervical ripening in induction of labor: A systematic review and an individual participant data meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Cervical ripening in labor induction using a combination of methods is gaining popularity, but the effectiveness and safety of this approach are not clear. The assessment of study trustworthiness has recently been raised for evidence synthesis.

Return to sport after meniscectomy, meniscal repair, and meniscal allograft transplantation for meniscal lesions in athletes: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this systematic review and meta‐analysis was to quantify and compare the evidence on the results obtained with the surgical treatments for meniscal lesions in athletes. Methods A literature search was conducted on PubMed, Cochrane and Web of Science in August 2025 according to the PRISMA guidelines.

No Evidence of Infection with Porcine Endogenous Retrovirus in Recipients of Encapsulated Porcine Islet Xenografts

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2000
Transplantation of pig tissues into humans has the potential for cotransferring pig infections. Knowledge of the epidemiology of pig infections transmissible to humans allows the development of risk limitation strategies at the source herd level, but ...

Current Status of Kidney Xenotransplantation in Basic Research

open access: yesOrgan Medicine, EarlyView.
Kidney xenotransplantation is a potential solution to the organ shortage for end‐stage kidney disease. This review systematically elaborates on the application advances of donor pig gene editing technologies, the molecular mechanisms and regulatory strategies of xenogeneic immune rejection, and the optimization approaches of immune compatibility ...

Degenerate Perverse Sheaves on Abelian Varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We analyze irreducible perverse sheaves on abelian varieties, defined over the complex numbers or the algebraic closure of a finite field, whose Euler characteristic is zero.

Characterization of Porcine Endogenous Retrovirus Clones from the NIH Miniature Pig BAC Library [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Pigs have been considered as donors for xenotransplantation in the replacement of human organs and tissues. However, porcine endogenous retroviruses (PERVs) might transmit new infectious disease to humans during xenotransplantation.

First virological and pathological study of Go¨ttingen Minipigs with Dippity Pig Syndrome (DPS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Dippity Pig Syndrome (DPS) is a well-known but rare complex of clinical signs affecting minipigs, which has not been thoroughly investigated yet. Clinically affected animals show acute appearance of red, exudating lesions across the spine.

All‐sky assimilation impacts of the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder constellation on global weather forecasts

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Key Findings: An assimilation methodology is established for the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder (TMS) flying on CubeSats in sun‐synchronous and inclined orbits, and in all cloud scenes. The TMS has a significant impact on weather forecast lead times up to 3 days in the Tropics in a research‐quality numerical weather prediction setting, and yields water ...
