Bioinformatics‐based discovery of the involvement of PSAT1 in mediating the anti‐lung adenocarcinoma activity of triptolide

Skullcapflavone II Inhibits SLC1A4‐Mediated L‐Serine Uptake and Promotes Mitochondrial Damage in Gastric Cancer

Skullcapflavone II (SkII) significantly alters serine metabolism in gastric cancer cells by directly targeting the L‐serine transporter SLC1A4, thereby inhibiting L‐serine uptake rather than de novo synthesis. This disruption of serine metabolism by SkII leads to increased oxidative stress and consequent mitochondrial damage.

Serine:glyoxylate aminotransferase (SGAT) converts glyoxylate and serine to glycine and hydroxypyruvate during photorespiration. Besides this, SGAT operates with several other substrates including asparagine. The impact of this enzymatic promiscuity on plant metabolism, particularly photorespiration and serine biosynthesis, is poorly understood.
