Modelling mass transfer during water absorption of closed mouth pistachios [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This study was undertaken to analyze the kinetics of water absorption and to derive an equation for the rate at which water is absorbed by closed mouth pistachios.  We used Kaleh_ghoochi, the major variety of Iranian pistachios.

Human IgE Antibodies Recognize the Vicilin and Alpha‐Hairpinin Domains of Peanut Allergen Ara h 1

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
The ɑ‐hairpinin of Ara h 1 contains a dominant epitope that is both frequently recognized and blocks a majority of the IgE against this domain. Including this region in tests may improve diagnosis of peanut allergy. The trimeric structure of the vicilin region explains the ability of Ara h 1 to induce anaphylaxis with a single antibody.

IgE Sensitization Patterns of Mothers and Their Offspring in the First Five Years of Life The CHILD Study

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
The spectrum of allergic sensitization in mothers and their offspring was characterized at ages 1–5 years at an extract‐ and molecular level in a North American birth cohort. Fel d 1 was the primary sensitizer in mothers, followed by Phl p 1. Perennial allergen sensitization (Der f 1, Der p 1) was rare at age one but rose sharply by age five.
