Organelle Crosstalk and Metabolic Reprogramming in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesCell Biochemistry and Function, Volume 44, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal interstitial lung disease of unknown cause, marked by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as collagen. This pathological accumulation results in progressive destruction of the lung architecture and ultimately leads to respiratory failure.

Plasmalogens.

open access: yes, 2015
Animals were daily fed by using a gastric canula with 0.2 ml of water (n = 15) or dietary supplement (n = 10) for one week before plasmalogens analysis.

Tumor lipids: Biosynthesis of plasmalogens

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1970
Labeled l-14C-l-3H-hexadecanol was incubated in vivo with Ehrlich ascites cells for 24 and 48 hours. The major distribution of radioactivity was found in the acyl, alkyl, and alk-l-enyl moieties of phosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, and glyceryl ether diesters.

A Pex7 Deficient Mouse Series Correlates Biochemical and Neurobehavioral Markers to Genotype Severity—Implications for the Disease Spectrum of Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata Type 1

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2022
Rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata type 1 (RCDP1) is a peroxisome biogenesis disorder caused by defects in PEX7 leading to impairment in plasmalogen (Pls) biosynthesis and phytanic acid (PA) oxidation.

Postbiotics in Food Systems: Components, Production Methods, Food Applications, Functional Properties, and Technological Challenges

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
This review provides a comprehensive, engineering‐oriented synthesis of postbiotics as next‐generation functional food ingredients. It first outlines the principal production routes for postbiotic generation, encompassing thermal technologies, non‐thermal technologies, and extraction/purification methods, and subsequently examines the analytical and ...

The presence of plasmenyl ether lipids in Capsaspora owczarzaki suggests a premetazoan origin of plasmalogen biosynthesis in animals

open access: yesHeliyon
Plasmalogens are glycerophospholipids with a vinyl ether bond, rather than an ester bond, at sn-1 position. These lipids were described in anaerobic bacteria, myxobacteria, animals and some protists, but not in plants or fungi.

Skeletal muscle lipids. III. Changes in fatty acid composition of individual phosphoglycerides in man from fetal to middle age

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1974
The fatty acids in cardiolipin, choline phosphoglyceride, ethanolamine phosphoglyceride, inositol phosphoglyceride, and serine phosphoglyceride in the human gastrocnemius muscle were studied for changes between early fetal age to middle age.

Lipidomics Reveals a Tissue-Specific Fingerprint

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
In biological systems lipids generate membranes and have a key role in cell signaling and energy storage. Therefore, there is a wide diversity of molecular lipid expressed at the compositional level in cell membranes and organelles, as well as in tissues,
