Plasminogen influence on the PAI-1 release by human platelets [PDF]
РАІ-1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1), as a major physiological inhibitor of tissue plasminogen activator and urokinase, plays a key role in the regulation of fibrinolysis in vivo.

Tissue Plasminogen Activator, Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1, and Tissue Plasminogen Activator/Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 Complex as Risk Factors for the Development of a First Stroke [PDF]
Background and Purpose —Abnormalities in the fibrinolytic system have been associated with an increased risk for stroke in a few studies. This study was designed to test whether plasma levels of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), and tPA/PAI-1 complex could predict a first-ever stroke.

Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and haemostasis in obesity [PDF]
The connection between obesity and disordered haemostasis is well established, but incompletely understood. There is a strong link between inhibition of fibrinolysis and obesity, and elevation of the plasma inhibitor, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), is regarded as a central factor.

Urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) and its inhibitor (PAI-1) have been associated with asthma. The aim of this study was to evaluate concentration of uPA and PAI-1 in induced sputum of house dust mite allergic asthmatics (HDM-AAs).

Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) expression in endometriosis.
PurposeDeep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) is defined as an endometriotic lesion penetrating to a depth of >5 mm and is associated with pelvic pain, but the underlying mechanisms are unclear.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
