Measurement of Active Thrombin Bound to Circulating D‐Dimers as a Sensitive Biomarker for Prothrombotic Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Scheme of preparation of D‐dimers and evaluation of D‐dimer‐bound thrombin activity. Thrombin bound to fibrin participates in ongoing fibrinogen transformation and its inhibition is impeded. Our detection system may aid in identifying patients at risk of recurrent thrombotic events or complications, regardless of the origin of the acute health problem.

Tranexamic Acid in Lower Extremity Endoprosthetic Reconstruction for Oncologic Indications: A Retrospective Comparative Study of 617 Patients

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives While tranexamic acid (TXA) reduces blood loss in orthopedic surgery, thromboembolic concerns in cancer patients have limited adoption in orthopedic oncology. This study evaluated TXA efficacy and safety in patients undergoing endoprosthetic reconstruction for oncologic indications.

Immunohistochemical Localization of Urokinase- and Tissue-Type Plasminogen Activators in Psoriatic Skin

open access: yes, 1987
Biopsies of involved and uninvolved skin from psoriatic patients and of normal skin were stained immunocytochemically with monoclonal antibodies against urokinasetype (u-PA) and tissue-type (t-PA) plasminogen activator using a multilayer peroxidase ...

Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Psoriasis

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1990
Elevated levels of the serine proteinase plasminogen activator are observed in psoriatic lesions. In contrast to normal epidermis, lesional psoriatic epidermis contains primarily tissue type plasminogen activator (tPA) activity and much lower levels of urokinase type plasminogen activator (uPA) activity.

SPROUTS_DB: An Implemented Database of Contaminants for Extracellular Vesicle Proteomics Studies

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current proteomics techniques allow rapid identification and quantification of proteins within any given biological source. However, LC–MS/MS proteomics is vulnerable to laboratory and sample‐associated contaminants. Therefore, accurate identification and annotation of such contaminants is crucial for development of reliable databases ...

Urokinase-type plasminogen activator supports liver repair independent of its cellular receptor

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2006
Background The urokinase-type (uPA) and tissue-type (tPA) plasminogen activators regulate liver matrix remodelling through the conversion of plasminogen (Plg) to the active protease plasmin.

Plasminogen activators catalyse conversion of inhibitor from fibrosarcoma cells to an inactive form with a lower apparent molecular mass

open access: yes, 1986
Purified $̃54 kDa plasminogen activator inhibitor from human fibrosarcoma cells was converted to an inactive form with slightly higher electrophoretic mobility by incubation with catalytic amounts of urokinase-type or tissue-type plasminogen activator ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

THE LEVELS OF PLASMINOGEN AND INHIBITOR OF PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATORS OF TYPE 1 IN ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2012
Aim. To estimate the levels of of plasminogen (Pg) and inhibitor of plasminogen activators of type 1 (IPA-1) in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and to reveal correlations between their content and clinical-laboratory characteristics of APS.
