Mutasynthesis and Antibiotic Activity of Mupirocin Analogues

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
A mutasynthetic strategy was developed to prepare pseudomonic acid analogues, and their antimicrobial activities were evaluated against five bacterial strains. Feeding studies with mutant strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens revealed that C7‐desepoxy‐PA‐B was metabolised to C7‐PA‐C with loss of the 8‐hydroxyl group, but no fatty acid chain extension ...

Plastic Diets Drive Microbiome and Metabolic Reprogramming in Wax Moth Larvae (Achroia grisella)

open access: yesArchives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, Volume 122, Issue 3, July 2026.
Wax moth larvae (Achroia grisella) can consume LDPE and PLA, triggering polymer‐specific restructuring of the gut microbiome and host metabolism. LDPE feeding enriches Bacillus spp. and is associated with shifts in carbohydrate and amino‐acid pathways consistent with hydrocarbon processing, whereas PLA feeding enriches Enterococcus spp.

Machine Learning Accelerates Crystallization for Structure Determination

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 25, 15 June 2026.
Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) is often constrained by the difficulty of obtaining suitable crystals. Here, a machine learning‐accelerated co‐crystal discovery workflow is established for a crystalline mate strategy that achieves over 95% prediction accuracy and experimentally delivers 114 co‐crystals from 120 candidates.

Intratumoral Microbiota in Tumor: Current Understandings and Future Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Intratumoral bacteria are emerging as active regulators of cancer evolution rather than bystanders. This review outlines how tumor‐resident microbes drive tumor initiation and growth by inducing genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, oncogenic signaling, and chronic inflammation, while promoting metastatic spread via invasion, angiogenesis ...

Pangenome analysis reveals the genetic mechanism underlying high‐altitude adaptation in Qinghai–Xizang (Tibet) Plateau Rhododendron

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 7, Page 2166-2188, July 2026.
Pan‐genome analysis reveals that high‐altitude Rhododendron species resist alpine cold stress by rapidly sensing and engaging the chilling response pathway and genes that directly and indirectly protect the plant from UV radiation. Heritable genomic features such as long terminal repeats contribute to the adaptive diversification of Rhododendron ...
