Pro-opiomelanocortin and ACTH–cortisol dissociation during pediatric cardiac surgery
In critically ill adults, high plasma cortisol in the face of low ACTH coincides with high pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) levels. Glucocorticoids further lower ACTH without affecting POMC.

We report the generation of a genetically corrected induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line, BIHi261-A-1, derived from the patient-specific iPSC line BIHi261-A carrying a homozygous truncating mutation in the POMC gene (POMC:W84X). This mutation causes

Pro-Opiomelanocortin and Melanocortin Receptor 3 and 4 Mutations in Genetic Obesity
Genetic obesity results from loss-of-function mutations, including those affecting the leptin–melanocortin system, which regulates body weight. Pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC)-derived neurohormones act as ligands for melanocortin receptors (MCRs), regulating
