Cytoplasmic tail determines the membrane trafficking and localization of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein
The spike (S) glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2 mediates viral entry through associating with ACE2 on host cells. Intracellular trafficking and palmitoylation of S protein are required for its function.

Protein palmitoylation in protozoan parasites
Palmitoylation plays an important role in the regulation of the localization and function of the modified protein. Although many aspects of protein palmitoylation have been identified in mammalian and yeast cells, little information is available of this modification in protozoan parasites.

Biochemical Characterization of a Palmitoyl Acyltransferase Activity That Palmitoylates Myristoylated Proteins [PDF]
Dynamic regulation of signal transduction by reversible palmitoylation-depalmitoylation cycles has been recently described. However, further understanding of fatty acylation reactions has been hampered by our lack of knowledge about the specific transferases and thioesterases involved.

Ufmylation‐Deficient DDRGK1 Ameliorates Obesity by Inhibiting FASN‐Mediated Adipocyte Lipogenesis
DDRGK1 regulates de novo lipogenesis via stabilization of fatty acid synthase (FASN). DDRGK1‐mediated UFMylation of FASN prevents its ubiquitin–proteasomal degradation. Reduced DDRGK1 expression or mutation at the key UFMylation site enhances FASN degradation and suppresses fatty acid synthesis (FAS), resulting in smaller adipocytes and improved ...

Rap2b, a proto-oncogene upregulated in colorectal cancer (CRC), undergoes protein S-palmitoylation at specific C-terminus sites (C176/C177). These palmitoylation sites are crucial for Rap2b localization on the plasma membrane (PM), as mutation of C176 or

Gi- and Gs-coupled GPCRs show different modes of G-protein binding. [PDF]
More than two decades ago, the activation mechanism for the membrane-bound photoreceptor and prototypical G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) rhodopsin was uncovered.

This study identifies palmitoylation as a novel regulatory modification of SMAD4, mediated by ZDHHC22/APT2. It activates fatty acid synthesis, creating a self‐reinforcing SMAD4–FASN–palmitate feedback loop that drives pancreatic cancer growth and enhances radiotherapy sensitivity.

Protein S-palmitoylation modification: implications in tumor and tumor immune microenvironment
Protein S-palmitoylation is a reversible post-translational lipid modification that involves the addition of a 16-carbon palmitoyl group to a protein cysteine residue via a thioester linkage.
