Dual role for pannexin 1 at synapses: regulating functional and morphological plasticity
Abstract figure legend Pannexin 1 (PANX1) regulation of dendritic spines. The postnatal decrease in PANX1 expression could release key spine cytoskeleton‐regulating proteins enabling spine stabilization. Does the physiological decrease in neuronal PANX1 levels across brain development underlie dendritic spine maturation?

Abstract figure legend The majority of L4–L5 dorsal root ganglion cells innervating the triceps surae muscles of healthy rats expressed TRPC6 channels. In decerebrated rats, pharmacological inhibition of TRPC6 channels by injection of antagonists (SAR7334 or BI‐749327) into the arterial supply of the triceps surae muscles inhibited the exercise pressor

Chemoreflex function in pulmonary diseases – A review
Abstract figure legend Chemoreflex activation in respiratory diseases and COVID‐19 populations. Abstract The chemoreflex is a vital protective reflex that is crucial in restoring normal blood gas and pH levels. The carotid bodies are peripheral chemoreceptors activated by hypoxia (primarily), hypercapnia, acidaemia, temperature, lactate and potassium ...

Sphingosine‐1‐phosphate activates LRRC8 volume‐regulated anion channels through Gβγ signalling
Abstract figure legend Sphingosine‐1‐phosphate (S1P) binds to Gi protein‐coupled receptor S1PR1. Upon S1PR1 activation, Gβγ is released from the Gαi‐Gβγ heterotrimer, allowing it to recruit phospholipase Cβ (PLCβ) to the plasma membrane. PLCβ cleaves phosphatidylinositol‐4,5‐bisphosphate (PIP2) into inositol trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG).

Background Extracellular nucleotides have long been known to play neuromodulatory roles and to be involved in intercellular signalling. In the olfactory system, ATP is released by olfactory neurons, and exogenous ATP can evoke an increase in ...
