Effects of pyrroloquinoline quinone on noise-induced and age-related hearing loss in mice

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We investigated whether the oxidoreductase cofactor pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) prevents noise-induced and age-related hearing loss (NIHL and ARHL) in mice.

A ‘Genome‐First’ Framework for Next‐Generation Bioinputs: From Functional Mining to Rational Synthetic Microbial Communities

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 5, May 2026.
I propose a ‘genome‐first’ framework to collapse the phenotypic bottleneck in bioinput discovery. By integrating multi‐layered genome mining and reverse ecology, this paradigm enables the rational design of stable synthetic microbial communities for a data‐driven and sustainable agricultural bioeconomy.

Environmental Enrofloxacin Exposure as a Modifiable Driver of Mitochondria‐Mediated Intestinal Aging and Barrier Dysfunction

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
Environmentally relevant enrofloxacin accelerates intestinal aging by impairing epithelial mitochondrial function, disrupting barrier integrity, and reshaping the gut microbiota. Mitochondrial restoration with pyrroloquinoline quinone alleviates hypoxia, inflammation, and gut damage.

Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Treatment Induces Rice Resistance to Sheath Blight through Jasmonic Acid Pathway

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Using bioactive inducers to enhance rice resistance is an effective means of green prevention and control of diseases during rice production. In a previous study, we found that foliar sprays of pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) as the bioactive inducer ...

A Multicenter Trial of an Enhanced Serum Comprised of 13 Plant‐Based Adaptogens Targeting Skin Quality in Females Impacted by Hormonal Decline

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives To assess the effectiveness and tolerability of a serum comprised of plant‐based adaptogens (MYS‐REV) for visible improvements in skin changes caused by hormonal fluctuations associated with perimenopause and postmenopause in women. Study Designs A 16‐week open‐label multicenter study evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of twice‐

The pyrroloquinoline quinone biosynthesis pathway revisited: A structural approach [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Biochemistry, 2008
Abstract Background The biosynthesis pathway of Pyrroloquinoline quinone, a bacterial redox active cofactor for numerous alcohol and aldose dehydrogenases, is largely unknown, but it is proven that at least six genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae (PqqA-F) are required, all of which are located in the PQQ-operon.

PQQ Supplementation and SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein-Induced Heart Inflammation

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2022
SARS-CoV-2 spike protein-induced heart inflammation may originate from either COVID-19 infection or the administration of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines. As pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) is a scavenger of free radicals, redox cofactor, and antioxidant which ...

Copper‐ and Silver‐Catalyzed Reactions of Active Methylene Isocyanides: Facile Access to Highly Substituted Five‐ and Six‐Membered Heterocycles

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 13, 1 April 2026.
This review summarizes recent advances in copper‐ and silver‐catalyzed reactions of active methylene isocyanides for the synthesis of highly substituted five‐ and six‐membered heterocycles. Emphasis is placed on [3+n] cycloadditions, annulations, and asymmetric strategies, highlighting current limitations and future opportunities in heterocycle ...
