Pyrolyzed Walnut Shell‐Based Flexible Electrodes for Magnetically Triggered ON/OFF DNA Release

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 5, Issue 10, October 2025.
A magnetically actuated DNA release system using walnut shell‐derived electrodes enables ON/OFF switching of electron transfer by controlling DNA hybridization with magnetic beads. A magnetically gated, enzymatically driven DNA release platform based on sustainable pyrolyzed walnut shell‐derived carbon electrodes is reported.

Spatio‐Temporal Resolution of Microbial Functions and Taxa Associated With Cyanobacterial Harmful Algae Blooms Along a 500‐Km Aquatic Continuum in the Lake Erie Watershed

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2025.
The aquatic microbiome can influence cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms. Abundances of genes and transcripts for phosphorus acquisition, denitrification and nitrogen fixation were higher upstream, whereas in Lake Erie genes and transcripts for microcystin production were higher.

The Effect of Pyrroloquinoline Quinone on the Expression of WISP1 in Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2017
WISP1, as a member of the CCN4 protein family, has cell protective effects of promoting cell proliferation and inhibiting cell apoptosis. Although some studies have confirmed that WISP1 is concerned with colon cancer and lung cancer, there is little ...

Characterization of a membrane-bound PQQ-dependent d-lactate dehydrogenase in Gluconobacter japonicus

open access: yesApplied Microbiology and Biotechnology
Membrane-bound pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ)–dependent quinoproteins are key components of the periplasmic oxidative metabolism of acetic acid bacteria, yet several predicted enzymes remain experimentally uncharacterized.
