Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) Regulates Rab5-Positive Early Endosomes in Hippocampal Neurons to Induce Dendritic Branching

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2018
Neurotrophin receptors use endosomal pathways for signaling in neurons. However, how neurotrophins regulate the endosomal system for proper signaling is unknown.

Electron tomography of late stages of FcRn-mediated antibody transcytosis in neonatal rat small intestine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) transports maternal immunoglobulin (IgG) across epithelia to confer passive immunity to mammalian young. In newborn rodents, FcRn transcytoses IgG from ingested milk across the intestinal epithelium for release into the ...

Co‐operative regulation of endocytosis by three RAB5 isoforms [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1995
Rab proteins are small GTPases involved in the regulation of membrane traffic. Rab5a has been shown to regulate transport in the early endocytic pathway. Here we report the isolation of cDNA clones encoding two highly related isoforms, Rab5b and Rab5c. The two proteins share with Rab5a all the structural features required for regulation of endocytosis.

Rab7 associates with early endosomes to mediate sorting and transport of Semliki forest virus to late endosomes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2005
Semliki forest virus (SFV) is internalized by clathrin-mediated endocytosis, and transported via early endosomes to late endosomes and lysosomes. The intracellular pathway taken by individual fluorescently labeled SFV particles was followed using ...

Probing the druggability of membrane-bound Rab5 by molecular dynamics simulations

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2017
Rab5 is a small GTPase and a key regulator in early endosomal trafficking. Rab5 and its effectors are involved in a large number of infectious diseases and certain types of cancer.

Regulation of endosomal motility and degradation by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis 2/alsin

open access: yesMolecular Brain, 2009
Dysfunction of alsin, particularly its putative Rab5 guanine-nucleotide-exchange factor activity, has been linked to one form of juvenile onset recessive familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS2).

A conserved and regulated mechanism drives endosomal Rab transition

open access: yeseLife, 2020
Endosomes and lysosomes harbor Rab5 and Rab7 on their surface as key proteins involved in their identity, biogenesis, and fusion. Rab activation requires a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF), which is Mon1-Ccz1 for Rab7. During endosome maturation,

Intrinsic tethering activity of endosomal Rab proteins. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Rab small G proteins control membrane trafficking events required for many processes including secretion, lipid metabolism, antigen presentation and growth factor signaling.

Rab5‐dependent endocytosis of KCa2.3

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2011
We demonstrated that recycling of KCa2.3 is dependent upon Rab35/EPI64C and RME‐1. Herein, we report our initial studies on the mechanism by which KCa2.3 is retrieved from the plasma membrane. Using a biotin ligase acceptor peptide‐tagged KCa2.3 construct, we demonstrate that expression of a dominant active Rab5 (Q79L) results in the colocalization of ...

Rab5 Enhances Classical Swine Fever Virus Proliferation and Interacts with Viral NS4B Protein to Facilitate Formation of NS4B Related Complex

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is a fatal pig pestivirus and causes serious financial losses to the pig industry. CSFV NS4B protein is one of the most important viral replicase proteins.
