Inhibition of choroidal osteoma progression using bisphosphonate and RANKL-inhibitory treatment

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports
Purpose: To describe the use of anti-osteoclastic medications (i.e., bisphosphonates and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa beta (RANK) ligand inhibitors) in treating choroidal osteoma.

Clinical, instrumental, serological and histological findings suggest that hemophilia B may be less severe than hemophilia A

open access: yesHaematologica, 2016
Recent evidence suggests that patients with severe hemophilia B may have a less severe disease compared to severe hemophilia A. To investigate clinical, radiological, laboratory and histological differences in the arthropathy of severe hemophilia A and ...

Interleukin-17A upregulates receptor activator of NF-kappaB on osteoclast precursors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
IntroductionThe interaction between the immune and skeletal systems is evidenced by the bone loss observed in autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. In this paper we describe a new mechanism by which the immune cytokine IL-17A directly affects

The impact of high density receptor clusters on VEGF signaling

open access: yes, 2013
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling is involved in the process of blood vessel development and maintenance. Signaling is initiated by binding of the bivalent VEGF ligand to the membrane-bound receptors (VEGFR), which in turn stimulates ...

Sum Rules for Multi-Photon Spectroscopy of Ions in Finite Symmetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Models describing one- and two-photon transitions for ions in crystalline environments are unified and extended to the case of parity-allowed and parity- forbidden p-photon transitions.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Osteoporose e erosões osseas focais na artrite reumatóide: da patogênese ao tratamento Osteoporosis and focal erosive bone lesions in rheumatoid arthritis: pathogeny and treatment

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Reumatologia, 2004
As erosões ósseas focais e a osteoporose constituem manifestações características da artrite reumatóide e são importantes no desenvolvimento de deformidades e incapacidade funcional relacionadas com a doença.

Angiotensin II Induces Aortic Rupture and Dissection in Osteoprotegerin‐Deficient Mice

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2022
Background The biological mechanism of action for osteoprotegerin, a soluble decoy receptor for the receptor activator of nuclear factor‐kappa B ligand in the vascular structure, has not been elucidated.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor-Kappa Ligand and Osteoprotegerin Expressions on Hyperglycemic Wistar Rats (Rattus Novergicus) During Orthodontic Tooth Movement

open access: yesPesquisa Brasileira em Odontopediatria e Clínica Integrada, 2022
Objective: To investigate the differences of receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) and Osteoprotegerin (OPG) expressions between normoglycemic and hyperglycemic Wistar rats (Rattus Novergicus) during Orthodontic Tooth Movement (OTM ...
