MODERN LABORATORY DIAGNOSTIC METHODS IN VETERINARY MEDICINE AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ITS APPLICATION

open access: yesArchives of Veterinary Medicine, 2010
One of the greatest challenges of modern laboratory diagnosis is the selection of methods for fast, highly sensitive and specific detection of the infective agents.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Primers and probe design and precision assessment of the real time RT-PCR assay in Coxsackievirus A10 and enterovirus detection

open access: yesData in Brief, 2017
This data article contains data related to the research article entitled “Rapid detection of enterovirus and Coxsackievirus A10 by a TaqMan based duplex one-step real time RT-PCR assay” (Chen at al., 2017) [1]. Primers and probe sequence design are among

Virus Culture and Real-time RT-PCR in Identifying Influenza Viruses From Influenza-like Illness Cases in Indonesia 2007-2008 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction: From the influenza-like illness (ILI) surveillance in Indonesia, we learned that there was disagreement between virus culture and reverse trancriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Evaluation and optimization of SYBR Green real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction as a tool for diagnosis of the Flavivirus genus in Brazil

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical, 2016
: INTRODUCTION: The genus Flavivirus includes several pathogenic species that cause severe illness in humans. Therefore, a rapid and accurate molecular method for diagnosis and surveillance of these viruses would be of great importance.

Differential cytokine responses following Marek's disease virus infection in chicken genotypes differing in resistance to Marek's disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The production of cytokine mRNAs, in addition to viral DNA, was quantified by real-time quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) (cytokines) or PCR (virus) in splenocytes during the course of Marek's disease virus (MDV) infection in four inbred ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.
