Does Notch play a tumor suppressor role across diverse squamous cell carcinomas? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The role of Notch pathway in tumorigenesis is highly variable. It can be tumor suppressive or pro-oncogenic, typically depending on the cellular context.

Overexpression of the Notch3 receptor and its ligand Jagged1 in human clinically non-functioning pituitary adenomas

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2013
Human clinically non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs) primarily cause headaches, visual impairment and hypopituitarism due to the effect of the mass of the tumor. Surgery is the first-line treatment for these tumors. To date, no efficacious medical therapy exists for non-functioning adenomas.

Heterodimerization of apelin receptor and neurotensin receptor 1 induces phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and cell proliferation via Gαq-mediated mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Dimerization of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) is crucial for receptor function including agonist affinity, efficacy, trafficking and specificity of signal transduction, including G protein coupling.

Novel mechanism of resistance to targeted therapies in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Oncology, 2019
We have identified a non-canonical role of0 Notch3 in response to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy, whereby Notch3 associates with β-catenin, resulting in increased catenin beta-1 (CTNNB1, best known as β ...

Sepsis downregulates aortic Notch signaling to produce vascular hyporeactivity in mice

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Inhibition of Notch signaling in macrophages is known to reduce inflammation, however, its role in regulating vascular hyporeactivity in sepsis is unknown. Thus we aimed to evaluate the effect of sepsis on vascular Notch signaling.

Pathological changes and molecular ⁃ genetic mechanisms of cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2021
Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is a inherited cerebral small vessel disease caused by Notch3 gene mutation. The molecular⁃genetic mechanisms of CADASIL have been still unclear.

Current views on the role of Notch signaling and the pathogenesis of human leukemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The Notch signaling pathway is highly conserved from Drosophila to humans and plays an important role in the regulation of cellular proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Area-Specific Regulation of Quiescent Neural Stem Cells by Notch3 in the Adult Mouse Subependymal Zone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the adult mammalian brain, neural stem cells (NSCs) generate new neurons throughout the mammal's lifetime. The balance between quiescence and active cell division among NSCs is crucial in producing appropriate numbers of neurons while maintaining the ...
