Serotonin 5-HT2a and 5-HT2c Receptors Stimulate Amyloid Precursor Protein Ectodomain Secretion [PDF]
Alzheimer's disease amyloid consists of amyloid beta-peptides (Abeta) derived from the larger precursor amyloid precursor protein (APP). Non-amyloidogenic APP processing involves regulated cleavage within the Abeta domain followed by secretion of the ectodomain (APPs).

Novel approaches for drug development against chronic primary pain: A systematic review
Abstract Chronic primary pain (CPP) persisting for more than 3 months, associated with significant emotional distress without any known underlying cause, is an unmet medical need. Traditional or adjuvant analgesics do not provide satisfactory pain relief for a great proportion of these patients.

Pharmacological fingerprint of antipsychotic drugs at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor
Abstract The intricate involvement of the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor (5-HT2AR) both in schizophrenia and in the activity of antipsychotic drugs is widely acknowledged. The currently marketed antipsychotic drugs, although effective in managing the symptoms of schizophrenia to a certain extent, are not without their repertoire of serious side ...

5-HT2a receptor in mPFC influences context-guided reconsolidation of object memory in perirhinal cortex [PDF]
Context-dependent memories may guide adaptive behavior relaying in previous experience while updating stored information through reconsolidation. Retrieval can be triggered by partial and shared cues.

Predicted Structures and Dynamics for Agonists and Antagonists Bound to Serotonin 5-HT2B and 5-HT2C Receptors [PDF]
Subtype 2 serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) receptors are major drug targets for schizophrenia, feeding disorders, perception, depression, migraines, hypertension, anxiety, hallucinogens, and gastrointestinal dysfunctions.' We report here ...

This graphical summary illustrates the efficacy and safety of brexpiprazole (2–4 mg) in patients with schizophrenia. The meta‐analysis demonstrates significant improvement in clinical outcomes, with reductions in Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Clinical Global Impression ‐ Severity scale (CGI‐S) scores, indicating better symptom ...

Pharmacologic MRI Brain Imaging Studies of Serotonin 5‐HT1 Receptor Agonists in Awake Mice
ABSTRACT Serotonin (5‐hydroxytryptamine, 5‐HT) type‐1 G protein‐coupled receptors are expressed throughout the central nervous system. 5‐HT1AR activation is the putative mechanism of approved drugs for generalized anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder and is being studied in the treatment of autism and neurological disorders.
