A real – life observational pilot study to evaluate the effects of two-week treatment with montelukast in patients with chronic cough [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Different conditions make the proximal airways susceptible to tussigenic stimuli in the chronic cough (CC) syndrome. Leukotrienes can be implicated in the inflammatory mechanism at play in it.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Polymorphisms of group VIA calcium‐independent phospholipase A2 (iPLA2β or PLA2G6) are associated with Type‐2 diabetes, blood lipids and inflammation. Global deficiency in iPLA2β‐null mice elicited protection against hepatic steatosis but not hepatic inflammation after high‐fat diet (HFD) feeding.

Linoleic acid participates in the response to ischemic brain injury through oxidized metabolites that regulate neurotransmission. [PDF]
Linoleic acid (LA; 18:2 n-6), the most abundant polyunsaturated fatty acid in the US diet, is a precursor to oxidized metabolites that have unknown roles in the brain.

Outlining eicosanoid biosynthesis in the crustacean [PDF]
Background Eicosanoids are biologically active, oxygenated metabolites of three C20 polyunsaturated fatty acids. They act as signalling molecules within the autocrine or paracrine system in both vertebrates and invertebrates mainly functioning as ...

Background and Purpose Bruton tyrosine kinase (Btk) is essential for B cell function. Its role in myeloid cells is less understood. Greater insights into Btk significance in myeloid cells are needed to evaluate its potential as a therapeutic target during the effector phase of antibody‐induced autoimmune diseases, where inhibiting autoantibody ...

Leukotriene B4 Enhances NOD2-Dependent Innate Response against Influenza Virus Infection.
Leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a central mediator of inflammation, is well known for its chemoattractant properties on effectors cells of the immune system. LTB4 also has the ability to control microbial infection by improving host innate defenses through the ...
