Biochemical characterization of three BLT receptors in zebrafish.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
The leukotriene B4 (LTB4) receptor 1 (BLT1) is a high affinity receptor for LTB4, a chemotactic and inflammatory eicosanoid. The LTB4 receptor 2 (BLT2) was originally identified as a low affinity receptor for LTB4, and, more recently, as a high affinity ...

Two distinct leukotriene B4 receptors, BLT1 and BLT2 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biochemistry, 2014
Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is a potent inflammatory mediator derived from arachidonic acid. Two G protein-coupled receptors for LTB4 have been identified: a high-affinity receptor, BLT1, and a low-affinity receptor, BLT2. Both receptors mainly couple to pertussis toxin-sensitive Gi-like G proteins and induce cell migration.

Leukotriene B4 Receptor-1 Mediates Intermittent Hypoxia-induced Atherogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2011
Obstructive sleep apnea, which is characterized by intermittent hypoxia (IH) during sleep, has emerged as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, including atherosclerosis. Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) production is increased in patients with obstructive sleep apnea and negatively correlates to hypoxic levels during sleep, with continuous ...

Antimicrobial peptides and eicosanoids : roles and interactions in inflammation and host defense [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have a broad spectrum of activities and exert their functions by both direct killing of microbes through the interaction with the microbial membrane, and modulation of innate and adaptive immunity of the host.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Leukotriene Enhances NMDA-Induced Inward Currents in Dorsal Horn Neurons of the Rat Spinal Cord after Peripheral Nerve Injury

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2015
Background LTB4 is classified as a leukotriene (LT), a group of lipid mediators that are derived from arachidonic acid. It is recognized that leukotrienes are involved in the pathogenesis of many diseases, including peripheral inflammatory pain. However,

Mast cell chemotaxis – Chemoattractants and signaling pathways

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2012
Migration of mast cells is essential for their recruitment within target tissues where they play an important role in innate and adaptive immune responses. These processes rely on the ability of mast cells to recognize appropriate chemotactic stimuli and

Sex-based differences in conjunctival goblet cell responses to pro-inflammatory and pro-resolving mediators

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Many conjunctival inflammatory diseases differ between the sexes and altered conjunctival goblet cells (CGCs) response is often involved. Inflammation is initiated by the release of pro-inflammatory mediators and terminated by the biosynthesis of ...

Targeting the PGRN‐BMP Lysosomal Axis With NPs@PGRN Reverses Immunometabolic Dysfunction in Chronic Septic Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic septic arthritis involves intracellular bacterial persistence and lipid‐immune crosstalk via the PGRN‐BMP lysosomal axis. A dual‐targeting nanoparticle system (NPs@PGRN) restores lysosomal bactericidal function, reduces bacterial burden, and reprograms macrophage immunity, offering a novel therapeutic strategy. ABSTRACT Chronic septic arthritis,

Stimulus specificity of the generation of leukotrienes by dog mastocytoma cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Isolated dog mastocytoma cells sensitized with dog anti-ragweed IgE and challenged with ragweed antigen or incubated with ionophore A23187 or the carboxy-terminal dodecapeptide of platelet factor 4, PF4(59-70), release histamine and concurrently generate
