Neuronal and ion channel mechanisms of noxious heat sensing in mammals: A puzzle of sensory physiology and pharmacology

Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) was the first noxious heat‐sensitive channel discovered. In rodents, its role is robust in the heat response of the cell body of polymodal nociceptors, but surprisingly small in that of the peripheral terminals in the skin.

Role of human RNase 7 in neuronal and glial cell models: moving towards an unexpected new functional link

Human RNase 7 is known to exert antimicrobial activity in epithelial tissues. Here, using SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG, neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell lines, respectively, we found that RNase 7 enhances immune responses to LPS stimulation by reducing the expression of pro‐inflammatory cytokines, nitric oxide, and ROS.

1H NMR metabolomics and lipidomics analysis of neutrophils reveals biomarkers of ageing, inflammageing and frailty

cDNA cloning and characterization of guinea-pig leukotriene B4 receptor [PDF]

The cDNA for leukotriene B4 (LTB4) receptor (BLT) was cloned from a guinea-pig leucocyte cDNA library. The cloned receptor cDNA encodes 348 amino acid residues and shares 73% identity with the amino acid sequence of human BLT. Northern blot analysis showed the highest expression of the receptor mRNA in leucocytes, followed by lung and spleen.
