Human Ligands of the Notch Receptor [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of Pathology, 1999
During development, the Notch signaling pathway is essential for the appropriate differentiation of many cell types in organisms across the phylogenetic scale, including humans. Notch signaling is also implicated in human diseases, including a leukemia and two hereditary syndromes known as Alagille and CADASIL.

NOTCH Receptors and DLK Proteins Enhance Brown Adipogenesis in Mesenchymal C3H10T1/2 Cells

open access: yesCells, 2020
The NOTCH family of receptors and ligands is involved in numerous cell differentiation processes, including adipogenesis. We recently showed that overexpression of each of the four NOTCH receptors in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes enhances adipogenesis and ...

Recent advances in in situ Notch signaling measurement

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2023
Notch signaling is necessary for the development of many organ systems, including the nervous system, biliary system, and visual and auditory sensory systems. This signaling pathway is composed of DSL ligands and Notch receptors.

Notch Receptor Activation Inhibits Oligodendrocyte Differentiation [PDF]

open access: yesNeuron, 1998
In this study, we show that oligodendrocyte differentiation is powerfully inhibited by activation of the Notch pathway. Oligodendrocytes and their precursors in the developing rat optic nerve express Notch1 receptors and, at the same time, retinal ganglion cells express Jagged1, a ligand of the Notch1 receptor, along their axons.

Bioinformatics and Functional Analyses Implicate Potential Roles for EOGT and L-fringe in Pancreatic Cancers

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Notch signaling receptors, ligands, and their downstream target genes are dysregulated in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), suggesting a role of Notch signaling in pancreatic tumor development and progression.

Synergistic regulation of Notch signaling by different O-glycans promotes hematopoiesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Glycosylation of Notch receptors by O-fucose glycans regulates Notch ligand binding and Notch signaling during hematopoiesis. However, roles in hematopoiesis for other O-glycans that modify Notch receptors have not been determined.

Relevance of Notch Signaling for Bone Metabolism and Regeneration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2021
Notch1-4 receptors and their signaling pathways are expressed in almost all organ systems and play a pivotal role in cell fate decision by coordinating cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis.

Notching tumor: Signaling through Notch receptors improves antitumor T cell immunity [PDF]

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2016
Notch signaling is crucial for lymphocyte effector and memory differentiation. While tumor suppress Notch signaling in antitumor lymphocytes, recent studies show that the pharmacological Delta-like ligand-1 multivalent cluster or proteasome inhibitor bortezomib can restore Notch-NF-κB signaling in T cells of tumor-bearing hosts with a potential to ...

Reduced Notch signalling leads to postnatal skeletal muscle hypertrophy in Pofut1cax/cax mice [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Biology, 2016
Postnatal skeletal muscle growth results from the activation of satellite cells and/or an increase in protein synthesis. The Notch signalling pathway maintains satellite cells in a quiescent state, and once activated, sustains their proliferation and ...

Diversity in Notch ligand-receptor signaling interactions

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Abstract The Notch signaling pathway uses families of ligands and receptors to transmit signals to nearby cells. These components are expressed in diverse combinations in different cell types, interact in a many-to-many fashion, both within the same cell (in cis) and between cells (in trans), and their interactions are modulated by ...
