Overview of Mycotoxins and Regulations in Cameroon
2021Cameroon faces the serious challenge of postharvest losses which is partially due to mycotoxins contamination. In Cameroon, maize is one of the most vulnerable foods to mold contamination, whereas cocoa and coffee are food commodities with high impact on the economy when contaminated.

Mycotoxins: Regulations, quality assurance and reference materials
Food Additives and Contaminants, 1995Some 60 countries have currently enacted or proposed regulations for control of mycotoxins (primarily the aflatoxins) in food and animal feed. Various factors influence the establishment of limits for certain mycotoxins, but there is no consistent rationale for setting limits or for enforcement control.

Mycotoxins in foodstuffs: Italian regulations in the European framework.
Annali di igiene : medicina preventiva e di comunita, 2012Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by several species of fungi and characterized by a range of dangerous health effects for humans and animals. The reference regulations in this field are continuously improved and updated worldwide. This paper reports the state of the art of Italian legislation, in the European context, concerning the limits

Update of survey, regulation and toxic effects of mycotoxins in Europe
Toxicology Letters, 2002The most frequent toxigenic fungi in Europe are Aspergillus, Penicillium and Fusarium species. They produce aflatoxin B1 transformed into aflatoxin M1 found in the milk, as well as Ochratoxins and Zearalenone, Fumonisin B1, T-2 toxin, HT-2 toxin and deoxynivalenol (vomitoxin), which are of increasing concern in human health.

Lipid regulation of placental mycotoxin transport
2018During pregnancy, the placental BCRP/ABCG2 efflux transporter prevents the transplacental transfer of chemicals and protects the fetus from exposure to toxicants. Prior studies have demonstrated that BCRP can transport zearalenone, an estrogenic mycotoxin produced by fungi that grows on cereal crops.

Limits and regulations for mycotoxins in food and feed.
Polish journal of veterinary sciences, 2004Mycotoxins are natural contaminants whose presence in food- and feedstuffs cannot be completely avoided. Since several mycotoxins have been associated with and implicated in human and animal diseases there is a need to establish maximum levels, guidelines or action levels for them in some kinds of commodities.

Mycotoxin exposure biomarkers and (un)regulated mycotoxins in Croatia
2018Introduction: Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites of the fungi, many of which are occurring frequently in food, but due to their low toxicity, or unavailable data on toxicity, they are not yet regulated. To be able to assess the exposure to mycotoxins, urine is one of the most often used matrix for mycotoxin biomarkers.
