In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Differential regulatory role of AU-rich and GU-rich elements in Trypanosoma brucei
Post-transcriptional regulation is the predominant mode of gene expression control in Trypanosoma brucei, yet the underlying regulatory elements and proteins remain poorly defined.

Cis-regulatory control of the SM50 gene, an early marker of skeletogenic lineage specification in the sea urchin embryo [PDF]
The SM50 gene encodes a minor matrix protein of the sea urchin embryo spicule. We carried out a detailed functional analysis of a cis-regulatory region of this gene, extending 440 bp upstream and 120 bp downstream of the transcription start site, that ...

PTRE-seq reveals mechanism and interactions of RNA binding proteins and miRNAs [PDF]
A large number of RNA binding proteins (RBPs) and miRNAs bind to the 3′ untranslated regions of mRNA, but methods to dissect their function and interactions are lacking.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Lentiviral vectors with amplified beta cell-specific gene expression. [PDF]
An important goal of gene therapy is to be able to deliver genes, so that they express in a pattern that recapitulates the expression of an endogenous cellular gene.

Transcription Factors and DNA Regulatory Elements
The interactions between sequence‐specific transcription factors (TFs) and their DNA binding sites are an integral part of the gene regulatory networks within cells. My group developed highly parallel in vitro microarray technology, termed protein binding microarrays (PBMs), for the characterization of the sequence specificities of DNA‐protein ...

Evolution of transcriptional regulatory elements within the promoter of a mammalian gene [PDF]
Transcription of the murine D7Rp2e gene is highly variable among species of the genus Mus, indicating that extensive modifications in the gene's regulatory elements have occurred during evolution. Since promoter regions are well known to harbor cis-acting information that controls gene transcription, we compared the sequence and function of the D7Rp2e ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
