Resolvins on the way to resolution [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2015
![Figure][1] Insight from Peter Ward Over the past several decades, lipid products have been found to exert both proinflammatory effects (e.g., prostaglandins and leukotrienes) and antiinflammatory activities (e.g., lipoxins and products derived from docosahexaenoic acid ...

Resolvin D1 and Resolvin D2 Govern Local Inflammatory Tone in Obese Fat [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2012
Abstract The unprecedented increase in the prevalence of obesity and obesity-related disorders is causally linked to a chronic state of low-grade inflammation in adipose tissue. Timely resolution of inflammation and return of this tissue to homeostasis are key to reducing obesity-induced metabolic dysfunctions.

Association of resolvin level in pregnant women with preeclampsia and metabolic syndrome

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2020
Objective: Preeclampsia (PE) and Metabolic syndrome (MetS) are multifactorial conditions and are major causes of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Both conditions are pro-inflammatory and can be causative factor for vascular damage.

Resolvin D3 and Aspirin-Triggered Resolvin D3 Are Potent Immunoresolvents

open access: yesChemistry & Biology, 2013
Resolvins are a family of n-3 lipid mediators initially identified in resolving inflammatory exudates that temper inflammatory responses to promote catabasis. Here, temporal metabololipidomics with self-limited resolving exudates revealed that resolvin (Rv) D3 has a distinct time frame from other lipid mediators, appearing late in the resolution phase.

Pro-Resolving Ligands Orchestrate Phagocytosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
The resolution of inflammation is a tissue protective program that is governed by several factors including specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs), proteins, gasses and nucleotides. Pro-resolving mediators activate counterregulatory programs to quell

Formation, Signaling and Occurrence of Specialized Pro-Resolving Lipid Mediators—What is the Evidence so far?

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Formation of specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPMs) such as lipoxins or resolvins usually involves arachidonic acid 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO, ALOX5) and different types of arachidonic acid 12- and 15-lipoxygenating paralogues (15-LO1, ALOX15; 15 ...

Roles of Resolvins in Chronic Inflammatory Response

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022
An inflammatory response is beneficial to the organism, while an excessive uncontrolled inflammatory response can lead to the nonspecific killing of tissue cells. Therefore, promoting the resolution of inflammation is an important mechanism for protecting an organism suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases.

Host Lipid Mediators in Leprosy: The Hypothesized Contributions to Pathogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
The spectrum of clinical forms observed in leprosy and its pathogenesis are dictated by the host’s immune response against Mycobacterium leprae, the etiological agent of leprosy.

Protectin and resolvin gut inflammation [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2017
Inflammation Even when laced with syrup, cod-liver oil is disgusting, but it is an important source of omega-3-docosapentaenoic fatty acid (DPA). After being swallowed, DPA is converted into specialized proresolving lipid mediators (SPMs), including protectin and resolvin.

Resolvin D1 and Aspirin-Triggered Resolvin D1 Promote Resolution of Allergic Airways Responses [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2012
Abstract Asthma is a disease of airway inflammation that in most cases fails to resolve. The resolution of inflammation is an active process governed by specific chemical mediators, including D-series resolvins. In this study, we determined the impact of resolvin D1 (RvD1) and aspirin-triggered RvD1 (AT-RvD1) on the development of ...
