Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) and other long terminal repeat (LTR)-type retrotransposons (HERV/LTRs) have regulatory elements that possibly influence the transcription of host genes. We systematically identified and characterized these regulatory

Characterization of a synthetic infectious cloned DNA of simian foamy virus serotype 1
A virus stock of a cloned infectious DNA of simian foamy virus serotype 1 (SFV-1) was obtained in M. dunni cells (designated as pSFV-MD). The kinetics of replication were similar to the parent uncloned SFV-MD stock in M.

Marine origin of retroviruses in the early Palaeozoic Era
Very little is known about the ancient origin of retroviruses, but owing to the discovery of their ancient endogenous viral counterparts, their early history is beginning to unfold.

Using a 3D cell culture model of the fibrotic barrier in pancreatic cancer, this work shows that inhibiting NUAK2 kinase in pancreatic stellate cells enhances macromolecular drug delivery. Mechanistically, NUAK2 inhibition disrupted actin stress fiber assembly to downregulate collagen I expression, thus enhancing macromolecular permeability.

Structure of the Ty3/Gypsy retrotransposon capsid and the evolution of retroviruses
Significance Long-terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposon sequences are widespread in eukaryotic genomes. They have been adapted to perform functions ranging from placental development to antiviral defense.

Conserving genetic material and even increasing genetic diversity is critical. To conduct the conservation of wild boar germplasm resources, we have successfully obtained healthy cloned wild boars for the first time using interspecies somatic cell nuclear transfer and established transgene‐free iPSCs that can be used to conduct iterative rounds of gene

The Role of miRNAs in Chicken Immune Regulation and Prospects for Disease‐Resistant Breeding
A schematic workflow illustrating the screening of disease‐resistant miRNAs and the generation of miRNA‐based disease‐resistant chickens via PGC‐mediated germline genome editing. ABSTRACT MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are emerging as pivotal regulators of the immune system, playing a decisive role in shaping disease resistance in chicken.
