Addressing Economic Insecurities Can Improve Patient‐Reported Outcomes in Lupus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Economic insecurities, such as food, housing, transportation, and financial challenges, are modifiable risk factors and influence patient‐reported outcomes (PROs) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We examined the following: (1) associations between economic insecurities and PROs, and (2) the impact of screening and addressing economic ...

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

The action of obestatin in skeletal muscle repair: stem cell expansion, muscle growth, and microenvironment remodeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The development of therapeutic strategies for skeletal muscle diseases, such as physical injuries and myopathies, depends on the knowledge of regulatory signals that control the myogenic process. The obestatin/GPR39 system operates as an autocrine signal

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Mechanisms Regulating Muscle Regeneration: Insights into the Interrelated and Time-Dependent Phases of Tissue Healing

open access: yesCells, 2020
Despite a massive body of knowledge which has been produced related to the mechanisms guiding muscle regeneration, great interest still moves the scientific community toward the study of different aspects of skeletal muscle homeostasis, plasticity, and ...

Oriented Cell Divisions and Muscle Satellite Cell Heterogeneity [PDF]

open access: yesCell, 2007
Satellite cells are crucial for maintaining muscle homeostasis and for regeneration following injury. In this issue, Kuang et al. (2007) reveal that muscle satellite cells are a heterogeneous mixture of stem cells and committed myogenic progenitors.

Novel Tailoring of Ternary ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 Nanocomposite Heterojunction and Its Tunable Electrochemical Properties With Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 nanocomposite heterojunction for photocatalytic decomposition of this methylene blue dye (MB) greatly improves light absorption, charge separation, and active site area. Two‐dimensional MXene forms nanocomposites by easily combining them with 0D (quantum dots), 1D (tube and wire), 2D (plane and sheet), and 3D (particle and lamellar ...

The DNA Methylation Status of Wnt and Tgfβ Signals Is a Key Factor on Functional Regulation of Skeletal Muscle Satellite Cell Development

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2019
DNA methylation is an important form of epigenetic regulation that can regulate the expression of genes and the development of tissues. Muscle satellite cells play an important role in skeletal muscle development and regeneration.

The emergence of Pax7-expressing muscle stem cells during vertebrate head muscle development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Pax7 expressing muscle stem cells accompany all skeletal muscles in the body and in healthy individuals, efficiently repair muscle after injury. Currently, the in vitro manipulation and culture of these cells is still in its infancy, yet muscle stem ...
