Stromal-Cell-Derived Factor-1 Antibody Decreased Cancellous Osseointegration Strength in a Murine Tibial Implant Model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Translational Medicine
Background: Active recruitment of osteogenic cells by secreted signaling factors, such as stromal-cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1), has recently been proposed as a novel strategy to enhance osseointegration.

Increased Numbers of CD4+ T‐Cells in the Hypocretin/Orexin Region of Narcolepsy Type 1

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) is presumed to be an autoimmune disorder caused by hypothalamic loss of hypocretin (Hcrt; orexin). In postmortem NT1 brains, we observed an 11‐fold increase of CD4+ T‐cells in the Hcrt region compared with control hypothalami, without a corresponding rise in CD8+ T‐cells.

Engineering Tertiary Lymphoid Structures: Nanomedicine, Bioengineering, and Biomaterials for Precision Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This review explains how biomaterials and nanoparticles can be used to induce or modulate tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs), which are ectopic immune hubs that form in nonlymphoid tissues during chronic disease and cancer. By comparing different methods, the article highlights design principles for modeling TLSs or recapitulating specific TLS ...

Inside a duck‐billed dinosaur: Vertebral bone microstructure of Huallasaurus (Hadrosauridae), Upper Cretaceous of Patagonia

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Dinosaurs evolved a unique respiratory system with air sacs that contributed to their evolutionary success. Postcranial skeletal pneumaticity (PSP) has been used to infer the presence of air sac systems in some fossil archosaurs. While unambiguous evidence of PSP is well documented in pterosaurs and post‐Carnian saurischians, it remains absent

RETRACTED ARTICLE: MicroRNA-454 regulates stromal cell derived factor-1 in the control of the growth of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly malignant carcinoma with an extremely high lethality. We recently reported that hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) targets quiescin sulfhydryl oxidase 1 to facilitate PDAC cell growth and invasion. Here,

An unusual titanosaur axis from the Upper Cretaceous of Brazil and its significance for sauropod anatomy and systematics

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Upper Cretaceous São José do Rio Preto Formation (Bauru Group, southeastern Brazil) has yielded a fragmentary but taxonomically diverse record of titanosaur sauropods, although elements from cervical series remain scarce. Here, we describe a nearly complete sauropod axis from the Vila Ventura Paleontological Area, representing an uncommon ...

Concentration of stromal cell‐derived factor‐1 (SDF‐1/CXCL12) in the follicular fluid is associated with blastocyst development

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, 2019
Purpose To study the association between stromal cell‐derived factor‐1 (SDF‐1/CXCL12) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) concentrations in individual human ovarian follicles and IVF outcomes.

Dietary Mannan‐Rich Fractions Attenuate Weaning Stress in Piglets via Modulating Gut Microbiota and TLR5/NF‐κB Signaling

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study aimed to investigate the potential of a mannan‐rich fraction (MRF) as a dietary intervention to alleviate weaning stress in piglets. Our results revealed that MRF could alleviate weaning stress by modulating the gut microbiota and the TLR5/NF‐κB signaling pathway, offering a novel and sustainable alternative to antibiotic use in swine ...

Tissue‐specific and spatially dependent metabolic signatures perturbed by injury in male and female mice

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective Osteoarthritis—the leading cause of disability worldwide—disproportionately affects females, yet sex remains an overlooked determinant. This disparity stems from sex‐specific differences in injury susceptibility—a major risk factor for disease.

SDF-1 axis and myocardial repair

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 2010
the ability of the heart to sustain hemodynamic demands is greatly challenged when cell loss or disruption of myocardial homeostasis occurs. Cell therapy using stem or progenitor cells is a promising option to restore the lost myocardium and normalize ventricular function.
