Eosinophil adhesion to nasal polyp endothelium is P-selectin-dependent.

open access: yes, 1994
Tissue eosinophilia is a characteristic feature of a number of inflammatory diseases including asthma and nasal polyposis. Eosinophil migration into tissues is controlled in part by interactions between eosinophil adhesion receptors and counter ...

Effects of general and spinal anesthetic techniques on endothelial adhesion molecules in cesarean section [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2014
BackgroundThe aim of this study was to investigate the effects of anesthetic techniques used during general anesthesia (GA) and spinal anesthesia (SA) on endothelial adhesion molecules in the fetal circulation of healthy parturients undergoing elective ...

Soluble P- and E-selectin levels as determinants of vaso-occlusive crises among sickle cell anemia patients in a tertiary hospital Northwestern Nigeria

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Hematology, 2020
BACKGROUND: Vascular E- and P-selectins play important roles in sickle cell anemia (SCA), vaso-occlusive crises (VOC); however, the extent to which they determine VOC has not been studied.

Differentiated serum levels of Krüppel-like factors 2 and 4, sP-selectin, and sE-selectin in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus

open access: yesGynecological Endocrinology, 2022
Objectives This study aims to determine serum levels of human Krüppel-like factors (KLFs), sP-selectin and sE-selectin and establish correlations between them in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).Methods Twenty-six GDM patients aged ...

Additional file 7: of Sulfatide decreases the resistance to stress-induced apoptosis and increases P-selectin-mediated adhesion: a two-edged sword in breast cancer progression

open access: yes, 2018
Figure S3. Expression of P-selectin on surface of human platelets (106 platelets) activated with ADP at concentration 1 μM (grey) or 5 μM (black). Degree of platelet activation monitored by analysis of P-selectin expression using flow cytometry and ...

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

The Reciprocal Relationship Between Cell Adhesion Molecules and Reactive Oxygen Species

open access: yesCells
Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are cell-surface-localized proteins mediating interactions of cells with other cells and the extracellular matrix. CAMs influence cell behavior and survival by inducing various intracellular signaling cascades that regulate

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

L-Selectin Enhanced T Cells Improve the Efficacy of Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
The homing molecule, L-selectin (CD62L), is commonly used as a T cell activation marker, since expression is downregulated following engagement of the T cell receptor.

Tropomyosin 1 Promotes Platelet Adhesion and Clot Contraction Separate from Its Roles in Developmental Hematopoiesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Genome‐wide association studies (GWAS) link the Tropomyosin 1 (Tpm1) locus to quantitative blood trait variation, but related mechanisms are unclear. Tpm1 encodes an actin‐binding protein that regulates actin filament diversity, cell adhesion, signaling, and actomyosin contractility.
