SEMA3C induces androgen synthesis in prostatic stromal cells through paracrine signaling

Prostate, 2021
AbstractBackgroundCastration resistant prostate cancer progression is associated with an acquired intratumoral androgen synthesis. Signaling pathways that can upregulate androgen production in prostate tumor microenvironment are not entirely known. In this study, we investigate the potential effect of a secreted signaling protein named semaphorin 3C ...

High level of Sema3C is associated with glioma malignancy [PDF]

open access: yesDiagnostic Pathology, 2015
Malignant gliomas are characterized by the tendency of cancerous glial cells to infiltrate into normal brain tissue, thereby complicating targeted treatment of this type of cancer. Recent studies suggested involvement of Sema3C (semaphorin 3C) protein in tumorigenesis and metastasis in a number of cancers.

Increased Expression of Sema3C Indicates a Poor Prognosis and Is Regulated by miR-142-5p in Glioma

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2020
Sema3C has been reported to promote glioma stem cells self-renewal and glioblastoma growth. However, the prognostic value and the regulatory mechanism for its abnormal expression in glioma remain poorly understood. In the current study, the immunohistochemistry results demonstrated that Sema3C was overexpressed in 169 of 216 (78.2%) interpretable ...

SEMA3C promotes thyroid cancer via the Wnt/β-catenin pathway

Experimental Cell Research
Semaphorin 3C (SEMA3C) regulates the progression of several tumors. However, the role of SEMA3C in thyroid cancer remains unknow. In the present study, SEMA3C was overexpressed or knocked down in thyroid cancer cell lines BCPAP and IHH-4. It was found that SEMA3C promoted the cell migration, invasion, and mesenchymal-epithelial transition (EMT) process.

Sema3C and Netrin-1 Differentially Affect Axon Growth in the Hippocampal Formation

Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, 2000
The interaction between outgrowing neurons and their targets is a central element in the development of the afferent and efferent connections of the hippocampal system. This requires that axonal growth cones recognize specific guidance cues in the appropriate target area.

Developmental Upregulation of Ephrin-B1 Silences Sema3C/Neuropilin-1 Signaling during Post-crossing Navigation of Corpus Callosum Axons

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2018
International audienceThe corpus callosum is the largest commissure in the brain, whose main function is to ensure communication between homotopic regions of the cerebral cortex.

Abstract 2525: Sema3C promotes glioma stem cell survival and radioresistance

Cancer Research, 2016
Abstract Introduction: Different cancer cell compartments often communicate through soluble factors to facilitate tumor growth. Glioma stem cells (GSCs) are a subset of tumor cells that resist standard therapy to contribute to disease progression.

Spatial association of SEMA3C with nerve endings/terminal Schwann cells in hair follicle isthmus region

International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience, 2020
AbstractNerve endings and terminal Schwann cells (TSCs) specifically and densely surround hair follicle at isthmus area, forming a neuromuscular‐junction‐like structure called lanceolate complex. The interplay between neuronal components and epidermis in this specialized structure enables hair to properly sense complex stimuli from environments ...
