Structure and organisation of the human testis and seminiferous tubules. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A. Macroscopic appearance. The testis is divided into compartments (lobules) separated by connective tissue. There are an estimated 250 lobules per testis, which vary in size; for clarity only 7 lobules are illustrated here. B.

Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) juice restored the number of Leydig cells, and the diameter of the seminiferous tubules of mice (Mus musculus) exposed to lead acetate

open access: yesOvozoa: Journal of Animal Reproduction, 2022
Lead is a harmful pollutant from engine exhaust that causes free radicals and has detrimental effects on the testicular tissue. This study aimed to determine the effects of tomato juice on the number of Leydig cells and the diameter of the seminiferous ...

Putative second messengers affect cell coupling in the seminiferous tubules [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Junctional transfer of ions in monolayer primary cultures of Sertoli cells and in intact seminiferous tubules from 20 day-old rats has been investigated by using electrophysiological techniques.

Histological comparisons between seminiferous tubules in adult offspring produced by DFS-ICSI or natural mating. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
(A) Seminiferous tubules in control mice show a normal shape with germ cells organized in concentric layers and exhibit ongoing germ cell production. (B) Abnormal seminiferous tubules observed in the testes of infertile DFS-ICSI-produced males (20% of ...

Formaldehyde-contaminated feed induces histopathological changes in the testes of adult pigeons (Columba livia)

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Biotechnology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2020
Formaldehyde (FA), a ubiquitous environmental pollutant, has long been suspected to possess reproductive toxicity. Here, we investigated the histopathological alteration of male gonads following exposure to FA-contaminated feed (40% aqueous solution of ...

eEF1G Orchestrates Translation to Ensure Meiotic Progression in Transcriptionally Quiescent Spermatocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
eEF1G supports translation elongation of meiotic mRNAs in transcriptionally quiescent leptotene and zygotene spermatocytes. Its depletion in germ cells causes meiotic arrest at the zygotene stage, with defective homologous synapsis and unstable recombination intermediates.
