A gene network of uterine luminal epithelium organizes mouse blastocyst implantation

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 21, Issue 1, January/December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The receptive endometrium is critical for blastocyst implantation. In mice, after blastocysts enter the uterine cavities on day 4 of pregnancy (day 1 = vaginal plug), blastocyst attachment is completed within 24 h, accompanied by dynamic interactions between the uterine luminal epithelium and the blastocysts.

Manipulation of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Restriction Factors: RPRD2, SERINC3 and SERINC5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: There is a need for a newer approach to tackle human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) due to limitations of the current antiretrovirals, innate cell restriction factors offer such opportunity.

Are bats evolving more potent antiviral immune systems? Investigating the evolution and antiviral capacity of SERINC3 in Rhinolophus bats [PDF]

open access: yes
Bats are an incredibly diverse and abundant viral reservoir species. Their immune systems are uniquely anti-inflammatory and anti-viral, often tolerating viral infection without any signs of disease. Several pandemic and emerging viruses have been traced

Investigation of muscle transcriptomes using gradient boosting machine learning identifies molecular predictors of feed efficiency in growing pigs

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Background Improving feed efficiency (FE) is a major challenge in pig production. This complex trait is characterized by a high variability. Therefore, the identification of predictors of FE may be a relevant strategy to reduce phenotyping efforts in ...

NefAAA substitutions impair SERINC5 antagonism and SIVmac239AAA infectivity.

open access: yes, 2020
The infectivity of Nef-trans-complemented SIVmac239Δnef produced in JTAg cells with knock-out mutations in SERINC3 (SERINC3-5+), SERINC5 (SERINC3+5-), both (SERINC3-5-) or neither (SERINC3+5+) (A) and viruses harvested from infected rhesus macaque CD4 ...

Infection of 5xFAD mice with a mouse‐adapted SARS‐CoV‐2 does not alter Alzheimer's disease neuropathology yet induces widespread changes in gene expression across diverse cell types

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The COVID‐19 pandemic underscored the impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) infection on worsening the severity of Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathology and disease progression. METHODS Aged 5xFAD and wild‐type (WT) mice were infected with a mouse‐adapted SARS‐CoV‐2 (MA10), and extensive ...

Y86 is critical for SERINC3/5 antagonism by SIVcol Nef.

open access: yes, 2018
(A) Alignment of the amino acid sequences of HIV and SIV Nef proteins. Dots indicate gaps. Functional amino acid motifs are highlighted. Y residues in SIVcol Nef that were mutated for functional analyses are indicated in green.

Proteomic profiling of porcine seminal extracellular vesicles reveals potential in vivo fertility biomarkers

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 555-570, February 2026.
Abstract Background Predicting male fertility in farm animals remains a challenge. Seminal plasma (SP) contains a high amount of heterogeneous seminal extracellular vesicles (sEVs), believed involved in reproductive processes and maybe key to understanding male fertility.
