Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Extreme Atmospheric Radiation Environments and Single Event Effects

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2018
Data from ground-level radiation monitors and cosmogenic nuclides are combined to give a probability distribution for severe radiation events related to the well quantified event of February 23, 1956. Particle fluxes, single event effects rates, and dose rates are calculated for ground level and aerospace systems.

Infection Control Practices for Vascular Access Management in Hemodialysis: Results From a Nationwide Survey of Japanese National University Hospitals

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Introduction to Single-Event Effects

open access: yes
AbstractRadiation effects in state-of-the-art electronics has become a critical concern that goes beyond the traditional systems operating in harsh environments such as in aviation and space missions. Therefore, there is an increased interest in studying these effects as well as in investigating on how to design reliable and fault-tolerant systems that

Collection of charge in NMOS from single event effect

open access: yesIEICE Electronics Express, 2016
In aerospace environment, single event effect (SEE) will occur and single event transient (SET) current pulse will be induced in drain/source region of Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) when high energy ion strikes semiconductor devices.

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Investigation on α-particle-induced single event effects in AlGaN/GaN HEMTs: Bias, strike location, and trap effects [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
This study first detailed simulation-based α-particle-induced effects in AlGaN/gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs), with a specific focus on the correlation between gate/drain transient currents and trap behaviors.

Effectiveness of a Novel Low‐Density Lipoprotein Apheresis Device Rheocarna in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia: A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a severe form of lower‐extremity artery disease characterized by distal lesions and microcirculatory impairment, limiting revascularization efficacy. Rheocarna is a direct hemoperfusion low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) adsorption device with potential rheological and anti‐inflammatory ...
