Identification of sodium channel isoforms that mediate action potential firing in lamina I/II spinal cord neurons

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2011
Background Voltage-gated sodium channels play key roles in acute and chronic pain processing. The molecular, biophysical, and pharmacological properties of sodium channel currents have been extensively studied for peripheral nociceptors while the ...

Large-Conductance Calcium-Activated Potassium Channels and Voltage-Dependent Sodium Channels in Human Cementoblasts

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
Cementum, which is excreted by cementoblasts, provides an attachment site for collagen fibers that connect to the alveolar bone and fix the teeth into the alveolar sockets.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

The Emerging Chondrocyte Channelome

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2010
Chondrocytes are the resident cells of articular cartilage and are responsible for synthesising a range of collagenous and non-collagenous extracellular matrix macromolecules.

High-content screening identifies a role for Na+ channels in insulin production [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2015
Insulin production is the central feature of functionally mature and differentiated pancreatic β-cells. Reduced insulin transcription and dedifferentiation have been implicated in type 2 diabetes, making drugs that could reverse these processes ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Atrial-selective block of sodium channels by acehytisine in rabbit myocardium

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2016
Acehytisine, a multi-ion channel blocker, can markedly inhibit INa, ICa, IKur, If at various concentrations and effectively terminate and prevent atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients and animal models, but the molecular mechanism underlying its blockage ...

Ion channels in lung cancer: biological and clinical relevance

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2023
Despite improvements in treatment, lung cancer is still a major health problem worldwide. Among lung cancer subtypes, the most frequent is represented by adenocarcinoma (belonging to the Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer class) although the most challenging and

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a
