Fundamental aspects of solid dispersion technology for poorly soluble drugs

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2014
The solid dispersion has become an established solubilization technology for poorly water soluble drugs. Since a solid dispersion is basically a drug–polymer two-component system, the drug–polymer interaction is the determining factor in its design and ...

Use of Solid Dispersion Systems in Pharmacy

open access: yesКонденсированные среды и межфазные границы, 2020
An overview of the use of solid dispersion systems in pharmacy is presented. The main techniques of obtaining solid dispersions were considered. The simplest one is the solvent removal technique: the medicinal drug and the carrier are dissolved in the ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Preparation, characterization, and in vitro/vivo evaluation of polymer-assisting formulation of atorvastatin calcium based on solid dispersion technique

open access: yesAsian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2018
Due to low solubility and bioavailability, atorvastatin calcium is confronted with challenge in conceiving appropriate formulation. Solid dispersion of atorvastatin calcium was prepared through the solvent evaporation method, with Poloxamer 188 as ...

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Discontinuous shear modulus determines the glass transition temperature

open access: yes, 2015
A solid - amorphous or crystalline - is defined by a finite shear modulus while a fluid lacks such. We thus experimentally investigate the elastic properties of a colloidal glass former near the glass transition: spectroscopy of vibrational excitations ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
