Whole-Genome Sequences of Two Klebsiella pneumoniae Strains (Sequence Types 23 and 35) from Wildlife
This report describes the draft genomes of two Klebsiella pneumoniae strains that were isolated from two wild boars collected during epidemiological surveillance and monitoring of wild fauna in the Abruzzo and Molise regions.

The genomes of coagulase‐negative staphylococci (CoNS) isolated during sequential ear and eye infections in a healthy adult are analyzed. We highlight the identification of a community‐acquired S. capitis subsp. urealyticus ST1 lineage carrying a mosaic SCCmec IV element, linking common skin commensals to multidrug‐resistant strains associated with ...

ABSTRACT The emergence of bacteria with both antimicrobial resistance and high virulence has become a global health concern, underscoring the urgent need to elucidate the molecular basis underlying these traits. Here, we employed the silkworm (Bombyx mori) infection model, which is suitable for high‐throughput screening, together with an Escherichia ...

Isolation and Characterization of a Novel Motility Mutant in SALMONELLA TYPHIMURIUM [PDF]
A new mutant, BT40, isolated from mutagenized cultures of S. typhimurium was deficient in chemotaxis (Che- phenotype) in tryptone semisoft agar, but had random motility with a tumbling frequency (37%) similar to that of the parental strain, ST23 (39 ...

ABSTRACT Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKp) is an emerging cause of community‐acquired pyogenic liver abscess (PLA), classically described in East and Southeast Asia. We report two cases of hvKp‐associated PLA in Caucasian women of American origin with no history of international travel, animal exposure, or Asian food consumption. Both patients

Multidrug‐Resistant Pathogen Clonal Spread in Nigeria: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis
ABSTRACT Background and Aim The rapid dissemination of multidrug‐resistant (MDR) bacterial clones poses a global health threat and limits treatment options. Understanding the dynamics of bacterial clones in Nigeria is essential for developing effective control strategies. This systematic review aimed to track MDR pathogen clones in Nigeria. Methods The

[Klebsiella pneumoniae from K1 and Hypervirulent Clone ST23: First Documented Case in Portugal].
The hypervirulent K1 serotype Klebsiella pneumoniae is responsible for a new invasive syndrome, typically associated to hepatic abscesses with extra-hepatic complications. Initially described in Taiwan, it has significantly spread to several Asian countries and more recently to Europe and North America, thus constituting an emerging and global problem.

Klebsiella pneumoniae (Kpn) is an opportunistic bacterium associated with various diseases, with significant morbidity and mortality due to treatment challenges posed by hypervirulent and multidrug‐resistant (MDR) strains. This study investigates the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance, virulence factors, and clonal diversity of Kpn isolates.
