Background. Carbapenem‐resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) are spreading worldwide, posing a serious public health concern. However, the data on CRE strains that cause infections in children in Guangzhou remain limited. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the epidemiology of CRE, drug resistance, and resistance mechanisms in children in Guangzhou,

National survey of colistin resistance among carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae and outbreak caused by colistin-resistant OXA-48-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae, France, 2014 [PDF]
From January 2014 to December 2014, 972 consecutive non-replicate carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates from colonised or infected patients were collected at the Associated French National Reference Centre as part of the French national ...

Abstract Background Infections caused by multidrug‐resistant gram‐negative bacilli (MDR GNB), in particular extended‐spectrum β‐lactamase‐producing (ESBL‐E) and carbapenem‐resistant Enterobacterales (CRE), pose a major threat in solid organ transplantation (SOT).

Klebsiella pneumoniae is the dominant species carrying colistin‐resistance inducing insertion sequence elements ISKpn25, ISKpn26, ISKpn14, and IS903B on plasmids. ISKpn25, ISKpn26, ISKpn14 bearing plasmids have a high carriage of carbapenemase genes and are associated with clinical source isolation relative to IS903B.

Extensively drug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae ST307 outbreak, north-eastern Germany, June to October 2019 [PDF]
From June to October 2019, 17 patients (six infected, 11 colonised) with an extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae strain were notified from four Western Pomerania medical facilities. The XDR K. pneumoniae produced carbapenemases NDM-1 and OXA-48, and was only susceptible to chloramphenicol, tigecycline and cefiderocol.

Background. In recent years, carbapenem‐resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) has emerged rapidly in China with the abuse and overuse of antibiotics, and infections caused by CRKP pose a serious threat to global public health safety. The present study aimed to explore the epidemiological characteristics of CRKP isolates in Northern China and to ...

New Genetic Variants of Leptospira spp Characterized by MLST from Peruvian Isolates
Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by the genus Leptospira, presenting complex and dynamic epidemiology. To determine the genetic variability and its phylogenetic relationship of Leptospira spp isolates from three sources in Iquitos (Peruvian Amazon) from 2002 to 2013, seven MLST genes were analyzed to obtain the Sequence Type (ST) and these ...

The Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) bacterium is responsible for many opportunistic infections such as sepsis, and a multidrug-resistant (MDR) clone sequence type (ST) 307 has recently begun to spread. The objective of this study was to report the first occurrence of this virulent genotype, which was found in the context of a urinary infection in
