OX40L in endothelial cells promotes temporomandibular joint subchondral bone angiogenesis and osteoclastogenesis in mice

open access: yesBone & Joint Research
Aims: Subchondral vascular proliferation is a substantial pathological manifestation of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA), yet its underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor-1 facilitates chondrocyte proliferation in pubertal epiphyseal growth plate via PTHrP/Ihh regulation

open access: yesBone & Joint Research
Aims: Oestrogen drives long-bone development through various oestrogen receptors. G-protein-coupled oestrogen receptor-1 (GPER-1), a membrane oestrogen receptor, mediates longitudinal bone growth during early puberty; however, the underlying mechanisms ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Quantification and Comparison of Different Biofilm Components from Methicillin-Susceptible Staphylococcus aureus Treated with Tranexamic Acid Using an In Vitro Model

open access: yesMicroorganisms
As we previously demonstrated that tranexamic acid (TXA), an antifibrinolytic, showed an antibacterial effect alone and in combination with vancomycin and gentamicin, we now wanted to analyze its own efficacy using new, different fluorescent staining ...

Morphological heterogeneity of HeLa cell mitochondria visualized by a modified diaminobenzidine staining technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
The diaminobenzidine (DAB) technique for the ultrastructural localization of sites of cytochrome c oxidase activity in animal tissues has been adapted to the visualization of mitochondria in animal cells growing in culture.
